A cat on average only weighs about 10 pounds. Are you sure that's how much your cat lost? If he/she weighed enough to lose 10 pounds in a week, it would be like a 300 pound person losing 150 or more pounds in a week - I doubt if that's possible no matter how sick they were.

But given that your cat probably lost a pound or two and is throwing up, you need to take him/her to the vet. It could be hairballs or worms or some more serious illness but there is no way for someone here to know what it is without seeing the cat.

If your cat lost 10 pounds in one week, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with him, most cats only weigh 10 pounds. I really hope this question is a joke, I would hope that no pet owner would be sitting around asking stupid @$$ questions like this and not take the animal to the vet. It's unhealthy for a human to lose that much weight in one week, let alone a small animal that weighs a tenth of what a human weighs. Please tell me that you're not really that dumb that you would sit back while your pet dies, and if you are that dumb then you should never be allowed to own a pet or be anywhere near animals for that matter.

How big is your cat that it could lose 10 pounds? Are you sure that you are weighing him/her correctly? My cat lost only 1.5lbs and it was the first signs of kidney failure. Then again he only weighed 8 lbs to start out. If it is true and your pet has lost that much weight, something is seriously wrong. Go to the vet immediately! It could be worms, a bowel obstruction, and so much more.

Take him to the vet now!

This was happening to my sister's cat just about a month ago. His liver had a growth on it (a very common condition for male cats!) that was causing him pain when he ate and making him vomit. It was a little pricy for the surgery and stay at the vets while they used a feeding tube (several hundred dollars in total).

Good news is, her cat is all right now, fully recovered and back to himself. The problem with your cat could be just as serious, if not the exact same problem. Take him to the vet and save his life.

I think it could have worms,or if you switched to a different cat food at some point it could be have problems adjusting to it,but it seems to extreme to be cat food. You need to get it to a vet to have it checked,I had a cat that the same thing happened to it and it was worms,I think tapeworms, but I could be wrong..anyways good luck.

How big was this damned cat??
Anyway, this is goingto take a vet looking at your cat.'
An awful lot can go wrong in a feline's body.
Do you have a vet?? If not, please contact your local MSPCA for help.
Maybe if you describe some symptoms to the employee, you can get something of an idea. Good Luck
