Rice milk, Almond milk, goat milk, and soy milk are all alternatives to cow's milk.
As for calcium: spinach and other leafy greens are great sources of calcium. Also, many people who are lactose intolerant CAN digest aged cheese without difficulty. Aged cow cheese, as well as sheep and goat cheeses are all good options, and delicious I might add.
Regardless of which foods you use to get your calcium requirements, I will also suggest supplementation with Citracal.
I thought it may be helpful to you to know that you may not be subject to a life without dairy. Having said that ...If you are lactose intolerant, it means that your body is not properly or completely digest lactose. This is indicative of an enzymatic imbalance in your digestive system. Incidentally, if you are of Northern European descent, then you are likely genetically pre-disposed to lactose intollerance. Supplementing your diet with digestive enzymes that includes "Lactase" may dramatically reduce your incidence of intollerance, or may (over time) completely resolve the issue.
Good quality digestive enzymes can be purchased in any health food store as well as the internet.

I, too, am lactose intolerant. I take over-the-counter pills called Lactaid, which you take before having dairy. They are kind of expensive, but worth it for the once in a while when I want pizza or lasagne or milk. You take the pills (I take two extra strength, but follow the directions on the pack till you figure out what it best for you) just before you drink or eat anything with dairy. It works like 98 per cent of the time, and it cuts the severe stomach cramps and runs I get from dairy.
You can also buy Lactaid milk, which already has the enzyme in it. I have not tasted it, prefer to use the pills with regular milk.

Hood Milk is Lactose free and so is Soy Milk and there is also a milk called Lactaid which my brother drinks tastes just like the real thing and awesome for you, LACTOSE FREE. Hope that helped.

I have the same problem. I use either Lactaid or Land O' Lakes Lactose Free Milk. They are both free of lactose and, to me, they both have the flavour of regular milk. Sold in half gallons for about $3.00. Costly, but worth it.

It's not the fat content that's bothering you, it's the milk sugar (lactose). It really doesn't change in quantity as the fat is removed to make lower-fat milks.
Try LactAid brand milk, or use LactAid tablets before your first sip or bite of a milk product. You are right to worry about getting your calcium. It's so concentrated in dairy products, do what you can to get it from those sources.

Goat milk...
Goats' milk is more easily digested than cows' milk and is recommended for infants and people who have difficulty with cows' milk. The curd is much smaller and more digestable. Moreover it is naturally homogenized since it lacks the protein agglutinin. Furthermore, goats' milk is free of lactose, which means it will not trigger lactose intolerance in humans.

my daughter was latose intolerence when she was a baby and i became latoce as got older and found that goats milk solves the problem and it has nice taste you buy in store but get it fresh thats the best way to go .
soy is ok but goat milk has what our bodies need . so give it a try . good luck .

My parents and my younger sister are all lactose intolerant . But my parents are also diabetics,so they drink 2% milk. Even I have gotten used to the taste,lol.
