It actually all depends--if this is homework, and your teacher is trying to get you to practice verbs that take 'sein' as a helping verb, then you want:
ich bin nach Spanien gefahren, und ich bin in einem Hotel geblieben.
The ones with übernachtet and 'hielt mich auf' sound MUCH more normal, but, again, if this is for an assignment, your teacher will KNOW you got native speaker help!
If you are revising an essay and were allowed to get native speaker help, go with the more normal sounding answers.

Ich war in Spanien und hielt mich dort in einem Hotel auf.("gegangen" isn't a good choice, because it gives the impression that the person walked all the way to Spain)
... but if you need a word for word translation, it would be like this:
Ich ging nach Spanien und hielt mich dort in einem Hotel auf.

There is no such thing as 'gangte' there is 'ging' and 'gang' but there is no gangte because gante would be double past.

All wrong - but I don't agree with doing people's work for them. The answerer who said she did German at Uni and stayed there two months - I hope she meant she stayed at Uni for two months.
