If I was on patrol and I saw someone walking down the street with a cattle prod I would definitley wander what the heck a person was doing with a cattle prod. I would talk to you and figure out what you were doing and then you would probably get a citation for carrying a deadly weapon. I saw someone suggest a mag light which is a good idea but most cops might be suspicious if they see someone carrying a mag light during the day, but I suppose if you could conceil it in your sleeve.

In Maryland anything that can be used as a weapon is illegal. If you are carrying the smallest pocket knife and the cop wanted to be a dick he could charge you for it. The best thing really is an object like a screwdriver, a staple gun something thats random and can be conceled very easily.
When I lived in and apt i seriously used to carry my b'fs maglight. If you are familiar with these types of flashlights they are weighted onthe bottom end, and are made out of all metal. I used to slip it up inside my sleeve so you couldnt see it. patrol cops use them as well. I guarentee if you cracked someone int he face or anywhere for that matter you would definatly break bones and or make them drop to the ground. Invest in one like that, so if an incident were to go down you could not be prosicuted. You were mearly walking your dog with a flashlight so you could see.

buy a serval. It is an exotic cat that is probably the size of a mid sized dog (a bit smaller than a doberman but way smaller than a tiger or great cat).
Just walk it and watch pitbull owners cross the street in fear. This thing would tear a pit bull or two apart before you could even shout "stop fluffy no!, you had pit bull and aikida stew last night!".
Of course Servals tend to attack your babies and young children. They also mark thier territory too- ALOT.

You can carry pepper spray to help protect yourself but the common problem with people carrying weapons to defend themselves is that 90% of the time the weapons get used on the victims. I would not reccommend carrying anything but your cell phone and some pepper spray for that reason.

It probably is illegal or at least you could be sued over it in court. But i not really think it that effective a weapon against a human, I think it might give u a false sense of security. If that person was much stronger and faster on you, they might take it away from you and use it on you and you certainly not want that.

It may depend on the state or province you are in but my guess would be yes...I can't even carry pepper spray where I am from, though, it has been found in my purse going into bars and such, and they don't confiscate it, they hold it while I am in the bar.
