It is not possible to sit three children comfortably and safely in three bumber seats in a row on the backseat of a small saloon. The time taken to get all the seats fastened because of lack of space for the fittings and the time taken to unlock them all in emergency is a factor the originators of the law cannot have considered. Some parents will be considering upsizing from the Hyundi Atoz or Suzuki Ignis to a wider vehicle.

The law has been introduced with safety in mind, but my friends 11 year old son is just under the restricted height and he is mortified because he now has to sit on what he determines a `baby` seat. Also they face the same problem, two baby seats ( for the twins) and a booster in the back car seat, mum and dad in the front. They are packed to capacity,so now they have to get a larger car which they really cannot afford.

yes there are drawbacks in use bumper seats for kids under a certain height.............when you smash into something the smaller kids tend to slide right under the other cars bumper, you're much better using teenagers, they make better bumpers
