Why dont most Americans see that there is good and bad in all religions and just because someone is Muslim or Islamic this does not mean that they are Terrorists or hate Americans. Some of the most gentle and good hearted people that I have met are of this faith. Thats like saying that all Catholic Priest are child molesters.Where it might be true that a large number of them may be, not all are.

Some of the most loyal loving pets are Pit Bulls, what's your point? It is not necessarily their actions which bring upon all Muslims an air of suspicion,it is instead their inaction which speaks volumes. Either they support the actions of terrorists or it is more important not to turn against "their own" than it is to stop the scourge that is Islamic Terrorism. And when I see hundreds of thousands rioting in the streets world wide over a cartoon I find it very hard to believe that the attitudes displayed by terrorists are a minority view within Islam.
Just as to use your example of the Catholic church,it was not that some priests turned out to be child molesters which causes them to look bad in my eyes,it is the fact that they willingly covered it up because the image of the church was more important to them, and their fear of lawsuits was more important to them than the welfare of the children. In that one act they forever made themselves evil in my eyes, and I would gladly watch them destroyed, they do not deserve a place in the world with attitudes like that. So you can imagine having said that just how I feel about Islam given recent world events,I don't think I could begin to say it any clearer.

You're right -- we're taught to be gentle and courteous.

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said he came to perfect people's manners and characters. He himself was known as a gentle, simple man who spoke to the point, yet powerfully.

For some reason, there is a big misconception that ISLAM condones TERRORISM. Well, its not true. Yes it says "kill the unbelievers" but that verse was specifically for a war situation. Even in war, there are rules (non combatants are not killed, religious buildings not damaged, plants and animals not killed, etc). So, that assertion is just false.

Secondly, the statement that Muslims are silent on terrorism. Again, its explicitly forbidden to kill civilians. Riots are another matter. Rioting does not equal condoning terrorism. While many riots are wrong -- the key to stop them is education. A lot of the Muslim world is sadly, in the third world which means they are not educated. But meet any Muslim who is educated in his faith (from proper sources that is, not some basement mullah) and you will see his peaceful nature.

So basically, its not the religion, it depends on the individual people.

Violence is non-religion related element. Is is a individual and character dependant being. Most of the violence are occured due to situation of a being.

A Man which is waiting to steal from a old women in the name of Hunger sounds violence enough. He is also plannig to stab her to illuminate her from being a witness. At that moment if he finds a bag full of money , will he still proceed to engage with the planned violence.

Negative situation is the primary reason behind most violence never religion. You may ask then why are people still fighting war against each other. Is that situation? Well that is because of the Conditions which are set to them by other people which they don;t agree.

Catholic priests have been tagged with being molesters by many many people. I would never allow my son to be alone with one. This is because of the conduct of not just one but several over and over again. As Americans we have been witness to Islamic terrorist car bombing and suicide innocent people over and over again. Then these crazies brought their evil right here to the USA. I don't hate Muslims but the level of trust for them is way WAY off. Are you all evil crazed terrorists, of course not. But there are a lot more of you that are than any other group we have to deal with... Jim

Some of the most gentle hearted people are catholic. Also some of the most gentle hearted people are christian. Also some of the most gentle hearted people are people who do not follow religions.

My point is that there are good and bad people in all faith (even those who have no faith) That is why we need to look at the person not the religion.

Thanks very much, dear! A sane, wise person at last! Generalising is a real threat. We really leave our brains to be washed by the media and take ready made judgements because we are too lazy to read, research, think and make our own.

I am not defending muslims because I am one. Forget Islam. Can we say all white people are so and so or all Africans are whatevever when it comes to personalities? We maybe able to include a large group of people in a judgement but only when it has to do with appearance, like Saudi Arabians wear white garments (even could be not all of them).

Are we that superficial?

You're right that many Muslims are nice. We treat Muslims here in America better than they are treated in Europe, particularly in France where they banned the scarves from being worn by their girls and women. Sure, America has its racial profiling issues, but at the same time, we are not that bad. Christianity is bashed way more than Islam is in our media and in our world, and yet you don't see Christians going out and getting angry at every little thing, protesting and burning flags and effigies. The radical spirit is more existent in this point in history in the Muslim world than in the Western world and Christianity.

Your right, but the true catholic teaching goes against child molestation and no Catholic can say otherwise yet the true Islam according to very many Muslims does teach the spread of Islam and Sharia law in any way including submission by violence. One only need look at any country dominated by Islam and it is there.
What we need is for all the Muslims who believe in peace (and yes there are many)to put down the violent ones by teaching and showing clearly from the Koran who's right and who's wrong.

You are right, Muslim won't be a 100% Muslim if he/she is not courteous to others. Because God teaches us to be kind to all human beings regardless of their religion, and be just to everybody including the foe.

I've debated various religionists on several forums for years and generally speaking Muslims are definitely more courteous and tolerant than fundamentalist Christians.
