Are you excited?

A night before EId, me, my sister, sister in law, and mom do a mendhi party which is fun. Growing up, Eid wasn't all that great because I wasn't close with any of my cousins, so it was just me, my siblings and my parents. Now that we're all married and have our own families, getting together at my parent's house is a lot of fun. And at my in laws house, they have a potluck party.

What does your family usually do on Eid?

Well my family always go to my grandparents house,we ask forgiveness from others ,then all my relatives going to the nearby mosque in our village and doing prayer. After that we have a little feast. Then all of us will visiting our friends and relatives. Kids or teen usually gets some money from the older man. That's our tradition in my country in Malaysia.

This is one of the absolute worst things about living "ghurbeh", living as a foreigner in the US. We do next to nothing, since we have only two uncles, each of whom is married with one little girl. They always come over the first day, exchange presents, we call relatives back home, my father and brothers go to the masjid, we go out to lunch, maybe take the day off of school, and that's pretty much it.

The best part of Eid here is hearing the occasional story from my mother about all the beautiful Eid parties she and my father had as children in the Middle East, with maybe a hundred people, just close family members, streets so packed it takes an hour to drive a block and park, people not going home until four in the morning, smells, toys, clothes... really fun stuff. If I don't start off college next year, I plan inshallah to go live in the MidEast for a year, just to be able to celebrate with family.

Oh thanks for this question! I love Eid, Ok I'm sure I would love it more if I was in a Muslim country but here in our community in the states we will go to the Mosque for Eid prayers, enjoy a big feast at the Mosque and visit with everyone for hours. Than later in the day we will visit friends and we usually go out to dinner sometime together. I'm soooooo excited ya'll. I hope you have all had a Blessed Ramadan so far and hope you enjoy Eid Al-Fitr!

Since I am only 12 years old, I don't have much choice. I put on Mehndi. The day of Eid, we go to the Mosque, pray, and talk with our friends. Then, we visit people's houses. That's my least favorite part. When we get home late at night, my parent call up our relatives in Pakistan (they have a different time). I also get money

My fiance and myself throw a party at ou restaurant and invite the regulars and our neighbours to join in the fun. We do not try to push people into religion, we just have a party where we can celebrate what we believe and others can have a good time.

go visits friends and relatives!

in malaysia, we always do that
and the best things is, when you go to friends house, their parents will give us "duit raya" means small pocket money
then, we will taste "kuih raya" means a special cookies made for aidilfitry
then, we eat "lemang, lontong, ketupat" - special food during this day!
then, after that, we will have fun chatting and then visits another friends house..

it goes on and on..
so happy!!

try it!!
