The official "place of birth" is where the plane lands.

If a child is born in a plane that took off in New York and is headed to San Diego but the kid is born while flying over Kansas the "place of birth" will be San Diego.

The kid and parents will have quite the story to tell and they can claim where they want. San Diego would just be the official answer.

Usually in the UK you can register the birth of your child a few days after the occasion so you would probably put the town where you lived.. however due to restrictions on how far gone a pregnant woman can travel by air this would never happen. After 32 weeks it is highly unlikely that any airline would accept her for travel!

To my knowledge the baby gets the citizenship of the country the airline is registered, e.g. if a baby is born on a Thai flight, he/she'll get a Thai citizenship.

Not sure about the city... but do check if your baby can get dual-cit. for whatever country you are from and the country the airline is registered in. It might come in handy for the babe later in life.
