Just get them a gift certificate with an amount you can afford from the places they are registered at ... that way they can get what they wanted but you aren't having to spend a fortune on one item ... !

I would go with a gift card to the place they registered at in an amount you can afford, or try getting them a nice engarved frame. I'm sure there are some in your price range, and they will need plenty of frames to display all their wedding pictures!

You're NOT required to shop from the registry, or even from that reigistry store. Gift them with anything you think they will enjoy, and which you can afford.

Do not gift a friend with money or a gift card. those are impersonal, improper gifts.

This irritates me, when people put alll relly expensive things on their registry. I think it makes them seem greedy. I tried to have a variety of things on mine. Anyway, I would just give them a gift certificate in the amount you can give them, then they can use it towards something on their registry. Or, you could find something you really like, and just buy it for them. It's YOUR gift.

You could make up a gift basket of kitchen stuff...utensils, dish towels, and a cookbook. Or a bottle of champagne? Or get together with fellow friends and all chip in for one thing? But the gift cert is good, because I'm sure a lot of other guests are thinking the EXACT same thing you are.

Aside from the wonderful suggestions given here, if you are bringing a date, then you can ask her if she would like to chip in for the wedding gift.

Or, if you know people from the guest list, you can buy the gift that the couple wants splitting the cost with someone else.

Good luck

Get them a gift certificate from one of the stores that they registered at. Once the wedding is over it will give them the option to go and purchase something else, together as a couple. Good Luck :)
P.S. Or just give them a card and some cash they can spend on their honeymoon. Honeymoon donations are always welcome. :)

u don't have to get something from the registry... :) try getting something more "sentimental" and that they can appreciate coming specifically from YOU.... if u don't know them too well, u can contribute to their honeymoon, or get the a gift certificate.

good luck! don't worry, if they are nice poeple, it won't matter what you give them, as long as u are there and u make an effort to make their day special!

Lots of good answers already and gift cards/certificates are always popular - maybe even for a restaurant they like in their neighborhood. One of my favorites when I got married was a "New Bride in the Kitchen" box - friends had put in recipes, a bottle of wine, several big jars with all the ingredients already in for soup, homemade premixed pancake mix, etc. It was fun!

You do not "have" to buy something from the registry. Buy something nice that you can afford. What matters is that it is something you have chosen.
