You need to be careful where it comes from. If you go to a reputable breeder who keeps true to the breed, rotties are wonderful with kids, and very protective of them. When I was training on a consultation basis, I had one rottweiler that lived with 5 kids. They climbed all over her, sat on her, tripped over her while she was sleeping, and nothing phased her. I've known lots of people with rotties and haven't heard of anything but positive experiences. The main thing is to know where the dog comes from, and raise it properly. If you've never had a dog before, this might not be the best breed for you. Rottweilers need to know that you're in charge. As long as they know their place in your "pack", they are wonderful, devoted and loving companions. Good luck!

Rottweilers are truly in all probability the main protecting breed of canine of the babies of their family individuals, there are various memories of them preserving babies from abusive mothers and fathers. the sole concerns i might have is that if the canine has been abused or is food aggressive the 2d is easily addressed via making the canine take a seat and wait till you tell it it may eat and different concepts till the canine get use to human beings around whilst eating, my rott is likewise very social and great around human beings even great communities, and whether she has doubts a pair of individual an undemanding introduction and he or she would be in a position to be great around the guy extremely smart canine with various character I fairly advise them as a breed and truthfully everyone who i comprehend who has one fells the comparable. They get a nasty rep because of the fact they're great and efficient yet they're additionally very loving. And great with maximum different canine different than each and every from time to time Pitbulls they have an inclination to have a organic mistrust for that breed. Mine loves small terriers even with the incontrovertible fact that.

rotties are excellent with kids, even the little ones, but they should never be left alone, not because of the dogs, because of thing outside there control that could cause them to react as a dog parent.
yes it is good to know what type of environment the dog comes from but i raised 2 a male and a female that were rescues and never had a problem with them.
each dog needs to be evaluated on a dog by dog basis.

I think they are especially good around kids or smaller children. I have owned one and she was fantastic around my son when he was smaller. She had a litte of pups while he was yong and more or less adopted him as one of her own. Rotts however have been used in law enforcement in the past and the german military used them years ago as guard dogs. So I guess it would depend on how the dog was raised or what it was bred for. However I strongly tink that they are fantastic dogs myself.
