Settling down simply means making a commitment to each other where marriage is usually considered. Wanting to start a family, if one is desired is usually behind wanting to "settle down". Hope this helps!

Complicated to understand? I cant believe you are 30 and asking this question, I thought you were like 13 or something. Settle down is another way of saying lets shack up. I would not do it if there are children in the picture, wait until he is ready to get married, I assume you know what that means.

It's not really complicated. The statement that would give me cause to run would be "i am looking forward to maturity and responsibility", which would tell me right off the bat that she has neither at the moment. People who are mature and responsible already have it, and in fact look for outlets to recapture their youth. That would be only normal. If two people are happy with each other, they are happy for the moment, at the moment, and carrying the moment together. When it's right for two people to go to the next level, those two people will go together.
If you are in a relationship with someone who is pushing the envelope, politely ask that person what he or she is bringing to the table. You should be able to find the answer you are looking for there. If you are the one to provide for everything, then it's obvious what your partner is looking for, security and economics. If he or she is willing to put it all on the line, come hell or highwater, i would take the request seriously and start planning for a future together.
But ultimately, whatever you decide, make sure the decision is right for you, and that security and economics play a major backseat to your decision. The whole point of maturity and responsibility is that these issues are already worked out. You do not work out money and duties during a relationship, you work them out before; since these issues usually doom a relationship.
Best of luck in your endeavor.

You are absolutely right it is hard to understand. I think everyone has a different idea of what settling down means. In general I think it means that you have found someone that you believe you will be able to live with forever without killing. I don't believe that once you make a commitment to someone things all just fall into place. Co-existing with someone is ALOT of work, noone tells you exactly how hard it is.

Well it depends on how one interpret it, but mostly it comes up to one word - "Marriage". Most couple nowadays wanted to trying it out living together, were they tend to know more of thier partners character and traits, and later on comes to a stage in thier relationship of settling down and getting married. Marriage is not an easy thing to decide on, IT IS A VERY BIG RESPONSIBILITY more than what you expect of (it's not always beautiful!), it is not just a walk in the park...it is the real ups & downs of life! Trust me been there & done that and i am happy with all the burdens that i have!

If you want to 'settle down' with each other, this means COMMITMENT (a state of being obligated or emotionally impelled).
To settle down means to be obligated to one another. Whether it be in terms of just being together or the possiblity of a commitment of marriage (engagement).
Of course this all depends on what the term 'settle down' means to each individual.
Settling down may mean to change a way of their life as it was.
Yes, simple question, but complicated in so many ways.

not really too complicated either. that means that u know u want to spend the rest of your lives together than he/she is it and there's no more need to look else where. so settled down would be to get married have kids and be happy together.

For me and my husband, it meant marrying, buying a home and raising our family.
It is different for all couples. Your settling down may be marrying, renting a beautiful apartment in Manhattan, having a dog and cat and a healthy career.
I guess, to me, it's just living life every day with the one you love and being happy in the life you've chosen. That is settled down for me.
