Well I am having about 500 and I am having a year engagement, so I have 7 more months and I have pretty much everything done, except invitations. So it really doesn't matter how many people it matters how much you want to go all out. If you planning a big all to do wedding, which would be beautiful, give yourself at least 10 months. Its taking my dress 8 months to be made, so you have to think of everything, also most places book up pretty quick so it's always better safe than sorry to have at least 10 months, uless you don't want an all out wedding then, you wont have to worry about as much things so maybe 6 months for a small wedding.

All depends on how much money you have to spend on the wedding and if you already have ideas of what you want to do. I just planned a small wedding for 100 ppl within 3 months and we did everything (food, decorations, flowers) by our self. But was pretty stressful to get everything done. If you have at least 9 months of planning then you can hit the bridal shows to get vendors and be more likely to reserve the location that you want for the ceremony & reception. That was out biggest problem as most places get booked almost a year in advance.

We are trying to plan an 80 person wedding and it is a pain and a lot of work. So a 400 seat wedding, wow!! I'm bald already but would probably loss my marbles if I was responsible for planning this event. Luckily my fiance and her two daughters are doing majority of preparation as they are far more knowledgeable then I about this. Best of luck in both planning wedding and wish you a happy married life.

Depends on what your doing and how fancy- if your buying predone favors or going to tie 400 bows yourself.... and writing out the invites should be fun. I would give yourself a year or at least 8 months. My friend has 200 people wedding in 6 months of the engagement- it was a little crazy and stressful.. It also depend on where you want to get married- one place I really liked we had to miss out on because it's a two year waiting list to get in. So finding a place that's open and then if you need a church- sometimes you have to book that a year out.

Typically, a year or longer.
It takes this long because you have to find a reception hall you like, then confirm. Same with a photographer, if they are available. Picking out flowers, dresses and having them altered, tuxes, food, and probably a million other things Im not thinking of. All these people have to be the ones available for the day you picked for the wedding and typically, halls, caterers and photographers are booked months in advance. At least, all the good ones are.

It depends on your location, style, preferences, etc.
Planning a wedding for 400 doesnt take any longer than for 100 with the exception that your venues might be harder to book (finding a place to house that many is harder than finding one for 1/4 that many, and many places that DO house that many might be booked already for other events) so the planning itself may take only weeks, but the time it needs to be done by.... give 12 to 18 months (approx)

It just depends on you. Most brides (no matter how big the wedding is) book 1yr out from the date. So if you are willing to take what you can get and know how to make it work, it wouldn't take as long.
The reason most people plan it so far ahead is b/c most everything books up 1 to even 2yrs ahead.. and they want to make sure they get the sites and vendors they want. But you could plan it in way less time if you aren't picky, and find good vendors available.

It all depends on what kind of a wedding you want and what your budget is. Professionals can do it in matter of days but I would say the normal planning time if you do it all yourself is 6-12 months.

How much time do you have? You can take 2 years if you want every detail planned, or 3 months to just get the job done.

About a year. unless of course you already have the list. you gotta call all these people up, plus reserve the church or wherever the venue would be, and get a catering service. a year, definitely, unless you want the stress factor. the thing is, some people also take forever to confirm, that's why quite a stretch of time's needed.
