We really like Finland. Helsinki is a lovely little city. It is right on the coast, a port that is beautiful.. The people are very kind and helpful. The young people speak English so it is easy to get around. Public transportation is beautiful and comfortable. There is a great assortment of tasteful shopping. One of our favorite stores is Stockmanns. It is a department store right in the middle of the city center. You have access to other European countries and becuase Finland is in the European Union, no visa is needed for Americans. You can even stay very inexpensively in Helsinki at a Youth Hostel. Of course there are nice hotels, but if you are running short on funds, the hostel is a good way to go.

Oh, Italy. Especially Rome. It's a wonderful city and everything is easy to walk to in the central part of the town. All the major sites that you want to see (Colliseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, etc.) are just 10 or 15 minutes apart on foot. And the Vatican is a short train ride away. The food is wonderful, the people are friendly and helpful (even if you don't speak Italian).
The weather is generally mild and it's just a great place.

Egypt.
I went there to conduct research regarding NGOs and Law 31. Cairo is not the prettiest, but it still is a WONDERFUL city full of life and history.
If you are looking for more of a relaxing vacation, I highly recommend Aswan or Luxor. Not in the summer though when temperatures can reach 100 degrees plus.

Italy is fantastic. I personally would rather go back to Italy. Germany looks a lot like America. However if you go exploring in Germany you can find some beautiful sites.
