***To answer your question... My response is long but please remember that it is not being sent with any malice. It is really disturbing that our hair is continually vilified. Kinky/nappy/curly hair is nothing to be ashamed of. With that being said, ALL of hair is made of the same components but differs in the way it grows out. Hair is nothing but dead cells. Dear, you really need to change your way of thinking. Straight hair is not the only beautiful type of hair, however, I can understand that's not what you see perpetuated in the media- we ALL (black, white, asian, hispanic etc) have been conditioned to believe that only 'caucasian' hair is the best - there are many women other than black who deny their kinky/curly hair and straighten it. We see it on tv, magazines etc. Until you realize that this is a lie, you will never be able to accept anything otherwise. One person responded saying that they are beautiful that's why they have straight hair and ours is nappy- this also saddens me but that type of answer is also to be expected. May I suggest that you check out some hair care sites for black hair to broaden your perspective? Here's one in particular: www.nappturality.com. From what seems like the beginning of time, those of us from black/african descent have been taught to be ashamed our hair and only now, we are accepting what we have been blessed with. Please visit with an open mind and remember nappy doesn't equal bad. Take care and be blessed.

Black women have hair that is unique to their heritage and ancestral environment, and it is pretty too when well cared for. Just like white hair is pretty when well maintained. You should learn to appreciate beauty in it's own way and stop expecting everyone to look the same. We are not meant to be that way. It's like criticizing a fish for not having legs. Our features all have an adaptive purpose.

Correct grammar would have this question read a little more smoothly! But, I will excuse you for your lack of skill in that area especially after I read the content of your question. Are you, dumb, blind, or both?! I get extremely tired of these endless "race related" questions posted on here. Every individual is different. What you are doing is called stereotyping! I have seen just as many White girls with bad, or nappy hair as I have seen black ones...It just depends on the genetic make-up...

It's has to do with races. white people have really fine hair where as black people and even some Latino and Hispanic women have naturally coarse or thick & curly hair. But it doesn't mean that black women don't have beautiful hair too. It's just different and we have to take care of our hair differently because it has different needs then yours. Where your hair problem is Oiliness (white hair isn't perfect and has problems too just like everyone else), Our problem is usually dryness. we have to keep our scalps conditioned and well-moisturized. And whether my hair is in lush, thick curls or straightened with my oil and a flat iron, it is just as Pretty as yours Sweety. Some women are natural and some get perms. i don't use perms (too harsh for my sensitive scalp), if i want to go from curly to straight, i use heat.

What's wrong with nappy hair?!?! And I am black, and I have curly hair, so that does not apply to every one. Nappy just means more tightly coiled. Why are you worried about black hair?

Genetics, there is no specific answer to that. Every race has their unique characteristics and that is ours. Not all blacks have it though, but I'm sure you know that. It's also come in handy to many styles we have done in the ancient times such as braids, the style your avatar has. :)
