I'm trying to get someone home to Canada after time served in the states but once finished they move the person around all over the place to different detention centers. Does anyone know the process or know how long it takes for them to release them?

I know of someone who had been in the states for many years but was not an American citizen. The charge was felony and after the prison time was served they were to be deported to their original country as a convicted felon, who is not an American can not stay in this country. This person did have a green card.
I hope this is not the case in your someone. Good Luck!

I was talking to a Canadian consular official the other day.

From what he said, I believe they could be of help for people in your situation.

Well, it may be deportation, in which case you may be in luck, given you want them home, anyhow. I think you need to get thier alien number and contact ICE.

If your not smart enough to figure it out he may rot in jail before you can get him home.
