If you have oily roots, try sprinkling a little bit of baby powder on them. Shake your hair out so there is no white residue.
The powder soaks up the oil and your hair looks fresher.
Also, you can spritz your hair with some water. Scrunch or comb thru (depending on your hair) and go!
Other methods;
You can wear a hat, put it in a ponytail, braid it, or wear a bandana. Those are all stylish.

Unless you have very oily hair, it is best to only wash your hair every other day. Washing every day strips your hair of natural oils, leaving it more dry, frizzy, brittle and fly-away than if you washed it once a day. So, unless you have gotten your hair dirty, or you have a naturally oily scalp, washing your hair every other day is fine. Every other day washing should actually leave your hair looking a bit more healthy by the second day, especially if you have naturally dry hair. However, your question "how can I make it not look gross" implies that you are talking about not washing your hair for longer than two days..because skipping for one day will not make it look "gross". In that case, I can't help you.

There is nothing wrong with not washing your hair everyday, in fact it is bad to strip hair of the natural oils produced. I also know it can take so long to style... so that being said, do the baby powder/ talc powder and even some light hair spray at your roots (hold your head upside down). If you hair is very oily it will need to be washed, there is really not a quick fix once you get to that point. Washing every other day is definetly recommended for color treated hair.

You don't have time to wash your hair, but you do have time to spend on the internet??? I'll never understand THAT!
Do you look good with your hair pulled straight back? Put a little gel on it and comb it tight, straight back, and fasten it with a pretty clip. Most of the time no one can tell if your hair isn't freshly washed - only YOU know, so you feel self conscious about it (unless you haven't washed it in a REALLY long time, and it smells funky - then everyone knows!)

Don't go too long without washing your hair. The build-up is not healthy for your scalp: The last thing you want is for it to start breaking off. I have heard that witch hazel can be used if you are not ready to wash at the moment. you may find it or some other product for the purpose at your local beauty supply like Sally's.

You should make time to wash your hair, but if you can't, then put your hair in a messy bun. What works too is to put a little bit of baby powder in your brush, and brush your hair. This will remove some of the oil.

FYI: Not everybody need to wash their hair every day. Some people only need to wash it once a week - and that's fine. If your hair is dry, it's a good idea to wash it less frequently.
Many teens care for oily hair by washing it once a day. As with acne, oily hair is usually a temporary part of puberty.

the best advice is to take the time to actually wash your hair - but if you honestly don't have time try using a little bit of baby powder in your hair (don't put a ton though or you'll be able to see it) - it should take away some of the oil - other than that your other options are to either pull it up or wear a hat

I hear you. I have bangs, so what I do (and what my hairdresser told me to do) is wet my bangs, shampoo them a bit, and blow-dry (on low) them back to the way they were. Sometimes the fact that the bangs are clean compensates for the rest of the hair being dirty. I don't know if you have bangs, but if you do, try it. It takes me less than 5 minutes.
Also, you can keep a spray bottle of water around and on mornings when you haven't washed your hair, spray it a little and blow-dry it. That'll make it look as if you really did wash it. I hope this helped.
