So it's not a blank notepad doc, but rather an existing one that I continuously work from, that I'd like to have open each time I start up XP.

Thanks.

Simply place the file in: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and it will open up when windows loads.

Right click on the file and create a shortcut. Then place the shortcut in your Startup folder in Program Files. The file will then be opened everytime you start Windows.

Set your computer to hibernate if you like,
- Open Control Panel - Display
- In ScreenSaver tab, Click Power
- In Hibernate tabs, check enabled Hibernation.
- Apply

If you want to close your computer, in 'Turn of Computer' dialog, press shift key, Standby button will change to Hibernate.
Press 'Hibernate'.

When you open your computer next time, all your windows, notepad or Words will continue exactly at the point where's you left it last time, including Winamp (if you play a song and hibernate it)

Just move it into the STARTUP folder.

1. Click in START button.
2. Click in Open
3. Click Programs
4. Click Start
5. Copy your file there.

right click on start explorer all users then drag a copy of the file into the startup folder, so when the machine restarts it will open the file.

Add a shortcut to your document to your start-up menu or add the following line:

notepad C:\path_to_your_file\file.txt

to the end of your C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT (obviously, C:\path_to_your_file\file.txt must be replaces with the path and name of your file).

You could also make a new batch file that you'd put in your Startup Folder. Inside the .bat file, put:

notepad.exe filename.txt

I'm not sure if this will work but try puting it in the "startup" folder of your computer (start, all programs, startup).
