Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

You must be quoteing from a bible other than the KJV bible.

I have read the Bible for 35 years and never had I read to "be careful that you are not so heavenly minded that you of no earthly good" and the parable of the good samaritan is found in the book of Luke 10 : 25 - 37 and if you read it ...you will see that It has absolutely noting to do with your "be careful that you are not so heavenly minded you are of no earthly good"....and we are not meant to be here forever ...earth is not our permenant home,,,Heaven is....and the story of the good samaritan is a parable....Jesus taught in parables many times...and Jesus used that parable to illustrate that compassion should be for all people and that fulfilling the spirit of the law should be equally important as the letter of the law and Jesus put the deifinition of a neighbor in an enlarged context. beyond what people usually thought of as a neighbor...that incident begin when a religious scholar of the law testing Jesus of what is necessary to inherit eternal life...So basically your neighbor is anyone that needs your help....

I think "be careful that you are not so heavenly minded you are of no earthly good...is a description of Christians...

The verses that come after are pretty good for this group.

RSV Titus 3: 8 – 11 The saying is sure. I desire you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to apply themselves to good deeds; these are excellent and profitable to men.
[9] But avoid stupid controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels over the law, for they are unprofitable and futile.
[10] As for a man who is factious, after admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him,
[11] knowing that such a person is perverted and sinful; he is self-condemned.

Hey that's not in the Bible!

Collosians 3:2 does say, "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

One scripture I found is talking about being high-minded.
2 Timothy 6:17, where it says, "Give orders to those who are rich in the present system of things not to be high-minded, and to rest their hope, not on uncertain riches, but on God, who furnishes us all things richly for our enjoyment;.

It's a quote from Oliver Wendell Holmes, I believe.

that was on Joyce Meyer yesterday.

I dunno. She might have paraphrased it.

I think that because I have heard it twice, now-I may be needing to come down off of my praising God all the time, and look around close to me to see what I can do to PLEASE God, instead of keeping my head up in the clouds.

Thanks!
