I understand what you mean. I lost my mother two months ago to ovarian cancer, and the other day a I almost screamed at a little old lady was handing out religious leaflets in the street. It took a great amount of willpower walk past her. I wanted to ask her why her so called wonderful God had taken my loving mother from me while murderers and rapists still roam free. The only person who could answer truthfully is God, and he doesn't seem to be available for questioning.

And I don't think it's part of some greater plan. If it is, God seriously needs to re-think his great scheme. From where I'm sitting, his plan sucks.

This is a really good question you are asking. God did not punish your grand mother. We all get sick and die because of the inherited imperfection from Adam and Eve. God hates to see his creation suffer, but there is a reason why we do. There is someone out there who is confusing us to believe that God is a uncaring God. He is Satan the Devil, he is a man slayer. Because he confused Adam and Eve, we all are suffering and eventually die. Satan backs up the bad people, because he likes to see humans doing terrible things to each other. He likes it when people disobey God, and blame God for all the badness on earth. But God cannot be tried for anything evil, because he is holy. I'm am sorry that you lost your dear Grandmother, but the bible gives us hope for the future, at Revelation 21:3,4. God gave up his son Jesus for our behalf, so that our sins can be forgiven. A God like that definitely love us. Like how Jesus was resurrected, so will your grand mother some day. Believe Gods word to be true, when he says this. Go to God in prayer and let your petitions be made known to him, he will listen to you, and he will comfort you.

All people good and bad grow old and die and all people good and bad die from unforeseen circumstances. The reason bad things happen to anyone, whether good or bad is because of God's enemy, Satan the devil. He challenged God's right to rule over the earth and said that humans do not need God and could rule themselves independently without God's help. God is answering Satans challenge by allowing man to try to live without his interference. Satan also said that humans would discontinue serving God if he( Satan and his demons)) were allowed to cause them pain and suffering. There have been and still are many who are proving Satan to be a liar, who love and serve God faithfully, despite whatever persecution Satan brings upon them.
What has been the result of man ruling man without God intervening? Suffering and injustice, wars, crime and hatred.
God has promised to soon rid the earth of all those things and to destroy Satan and all who follow him.
We need a righteous ruler who will be just and merciful. Human rulers can do nothing for us. (Psalm 146:3)
Look what Psalms 37:9-11 promises us--" For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."
Soon the meek who inherit this earth will be under one government that will last forever. (See Daniel 2:44) No more will we have to put up with imperfect human rulers who can never bring an end to injustice, crime, terrorism or death itself. God's government will do all that and more.
Jesus promised that those who have fallen asleep in death will be brought back to life. (John 5:27-29)
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live." (John 5:25 )
What a loving God we have, to give us the marvelous hope of seeing our loved ones again.

Sorry about your nan. Bad things happen to the best of people because Satan is angry at them for choosing God over him. God is the author of every good gift. One day those of our loved ones who have suffered on this earth will look upon all the horrible people burning in hell. And they will be standing on the sea of glass and Jesus will be the one comforting them. (my dad died a horrible cancer ridden death too, he was a preacher)

I don't believe that God punished your Nan. The Bible says that it will rain on the just and the unjust! (Things will happen to everyone! No one is exempted! We all have to die in these earthly bodies. Thank God that it was guick, She did not have to suffer long! I Pray that your Nan was saved! (Believed that Jesus died, was buried, and rose up for us!) Read the Bible!

In Christianity-at least the sects I'm familiar with-it's taught that God does NOT cause the bad things. Instead, it is said that man has brought about the world as we know it, so the bad stuff is a result of humankind. It's taught that since God is for free will, he rarely steps in to change the course of things.

You are guaranteed to die. Death is eternal and life everlasting.

What we perceive as good and bad are subjective to our personal experience and cultural society in which we live in.

It's not punishment, per se.

We're only given three score and ten. (Psalm 90:10)
If she accepted Christ she's now in His presence, pain free.
