Does anyone else spend the day after a nite out getting sick? I don't drink that much but when I do the next day is a nightmare, normally I would get sick untill about 6 in the evening. I do enjoy a drink and would like to be able to do it more, so if anyone is like me have they found a way to drink without getting sick or do I have to give up drinking for ever?

I also get monster hangovers- and it's only getting worse the older I get. My tips would be...

1. If you're gonna sick it up, try and do it on the night, so it's not poisoning your system all the next day. I know it's gross, but a lot of people go make themselves sick at the end of a night for this reason.

2. Start and finish early, so you have more time to sleep it off. If On week nights, go out straight from work don't drink any more after 10- this gives you plenty of time to get pissed, but come 7 AM your body won't be in such a bad way.

3. Drink cocktails, or spirits with juice- because they are full of sugar, you wont get such a big dip in your blood sugar levels, which causes some of the unpleasant effects the next day.

4. Wine is lethal- it seems to be the most dehydrating of all the drinks, so you'd best avoid this if you need to be alive the next day! UNLESS it only takes you a couple glasses to get as tipsy if you need to be, in which case go with that because it will help you with point 2.

5. Clear spirits are best- choose vodka over whiskey. There's some medical reason for this, but I can't remember what it is!

Here are some steps that have help me, before I have had your same problem and also I don't drink too much:
1.Eat a very good protein meal before going out, not starchy or sugary.
2.Don't mix different drinks, (beer, wine or vodka and wine etc)
3.Don't drink with sugar mixing. Better drink it with water or alone with ice
4.When you are drinking, don't stay sitting to much, go walk, come back dance, try to move more.
5.While your drinking avoid eaten sugary, starchy thing also, with the drinks.
6. Next day the better is to drink plenty of water, so you can eliminate faster the alcohol in your body.
7.Some people just cant drink too much, because your body can assimilated too much alcohol and it can be dangerous for you. Maybe that is way you got sick; so never try to go beyond the limits or drink more. Play with a glass of drink for long time before drinking another. You can get intoxicate and it even can cause death...
Good luck, and don't drink too much...it doesn't worth it!

When i get in from a drinking session i always try to make myself drink a pint of water before i go to bed so i rehydrate my body and i tend not to be too sick the next day or headachy, i would normally be ok by about 12 rather 6pm.

always best to eat before you start drinking heavily, rather than eat at the end of the night, because your stomach is trying deal with all that alcohol aswell as food.

Perhaps you are drinking way too much for your body too handle? everyone is different, try testing your limit, for instance if you normally have 10 drinks, try 8, and see if they makes a difference to how you feel the next day, i know it's hard to remember how many you had, but you have a rough idea plus you will know by how drunk you feel.

Good luck.

Well...I can't say I have the same problem as you, but what really helps me not get a hang over the next day is to drink A LOT of water before going to bed...try to wash some of the alcohol out of your system...I'd also maybe eat something with bread like pizza if you can stomach it. Also know your limitations...are you drinking a lot or is this just after a few?? Good luck!

A friend of mine had a good idea. Leave a full 1 litre water bottle and two aspirin and two multivitamins on your pillow before a night out. Then when you stagger in, drink the water and take the pills. The aspirin will let you sleep properly (which will let the alcohol wear off) and the vitamins will put healthy things back in your body. The water will rehydrate you. The best thing about it is you wake up feeling fine because you do the hard work when you're drunk!

I find i can get completely ratted, then i eat something (like chips and kebab or burger n chips or whatever: something greasy). then when i get home, i drink an entire pint of water (no spills if poss!). i wake up next day not feeling 100%, but im not ill either. Try and eat some breakfast of some kind: again, a fry up or just egg on toast helps. then i jus feel like im a little under weather for 2-3 hours then i return to normal again. Give it a go: whats the worse that could happen? ya just as ill as before.. worth a try eh?

I've found my way to avoid a hangover is to not get drunk. So I limit myself to about 2 drinks in a night and make sure that I enjoy the company that I'm out with. Also make sure to drink water while drinking, it will help, at least it does for me.
