it is very possible. i miscarried, and actually had to wait almost 2 weeks to have my surgery. it's unfortunate, sad, and the emotional aspect of knowing that you dead child is inside of you is something a woman will never get over. don't judge, you never know how wrong your snap judgements can be sometimes.

It does happen. Especially if the mother is 5mos. or more when she miscarries. A friend of mine had to carry her baby 5 days after she miscarried. She was 7mos. along.
Any time a woman miscarries is traumatic. But just imagine being several months along, having felt the baby kick and roll. Then imaging knowing the baby has died but due to complications she has to carry that baby for a while waiting on a surgery date. My friend had a "natural" birth for her miscarried baby. She was devastated for months. Give your co-worker a break. And maybe some empathy for what she has gone through.

It's possible that you are miscarrying due to a short luteal phase, since your period is heavier than normal. It's also likely you were never pregnant, since you had a negative test and your cycles are messed up. Even if you miscarried, pregnancy tests should still be positive for several weeks afterwards. You should visit your doctor and explain what is going on to him/her. They can help you figure out if you are actually miscarrying and help to solve your luteal phase problem. However, it's always possible your cycles are just abnormal, if this is the case then you should still see your doctor about it. Good luck

oooh kay. Usually with a miscarriage, the embryo is flushed out of your body with tissue and blood. The surgery is to make sure that all is cleaned up in there.
Unless of course, she was farther than 4 months along, then you would notice the belly. If she had waited that long, she probably would have died. Think about it, carrying around something dead inside you could not be good.
But I guess anything is possible in the medical world. If she says so, it probably happened.

I had a miscarriage in August. I was 8 weeks along, but the baby had passed away when I was 5 weeks along. So for three weeks the child was inside me before finally passing out of me. It wasn't found out until I started bleeding very heavily. I never had surgery for the miscarriage. I was allowed to pass everything naturally. It took about two weeks.
So, yes, it is possible.

Miscarriage is a natural process that will take care of itself if left alone. Doctors tend to perform D&C's to make sure the uterus has no remnants left and to spare the woman from having to go sometimes several weeks before the natural process is over as that can be very emotionally tramatic. It might be that her doctor let her go naturally and then did a D&C because she was showing signs of infection or some other sort of trouble.

Yes, some doctors want to give the body a chance to do the process on its own and they will give it some time to complete it. If it doesn't happen after a certain amount of time then it becomes toxic for the mother and they have no choice but go in and remove what's left. It doesn't happen often, but there are still old fashioned doctors out there.

i had a miscarriage at 10weeks 5 days, the baby had died at 6weeks
so it was dead inside me for almost 5 weeks because i had started bleeding and had already passed the baby the hospital let me go home and let nature do the rest
it took me 4 weeks to lose the rest of the pregnancy it wasn't pleasant and has left me with some awful memories
i was scanned weekly and they tested for pregnancy every week until i was testing negative and nothing remained in my womb, so the young lady may be telling the truth

Yes, I know a girl who lost her baby a month before her due date. The doctors had her carry it for a couple of weeks before she delivered naturally. It was really sad. She had to go through labor and everything, but no baby to take home.
