You can choose to modify your keyboard. Chances are a previous owner changed it try pressing and holding the arrow key below Ctrl and the pressing all the numbers and other buttons while still holding down the arrow key until you find it.
This happened to me before and the person had changed the pound sign to the question mark sign!!

Open up a new word document, click on INSERT then SYMBOL then you should be able to find the £ sign there, just copy and paste it in. You can normally find it above the number 3, just hold down the little arrow that points upwards (shift key on your keyboard) and then press 3.

If yours is like mine with the US $ sign then just run through all the numbers on Shift and see if it is hidden somewhere. I suddenly found £ under No.3. You may just be lucky if not use P.Sterling alongside.

Try asking this question in the right section!

Or you could hold down "Shift" and press "3" ... failing that you can go to control panel and change the settings for "Language" from American or Chinese or Swahili to English (UK)

I don't have the euro sign. I use CTL-ALT-4 for that. Try using CTL-ALT-3 or CTL-ALT-4. Press all keys at same time.
