Yes, people pray. For various reasons. The question to be asked is, do people pray for spiritual ascent?
Seekers in this world pray day-in-day-out. What do they pray for? Some pray for money, fulfulment of needs, dissolution of troubles etc. But every prayer leads them to this area of conciousness where they surrender and submit. Tons of these are found in left-sided countries (developing nations, if you will).
There will always be a bunch of praying souls, praying - which keeps the attention of the One on us.

Yes, I pray to the Gods for protection, health, and guidance. Every night, I ask that They help us to manifest Their graces and virtues in ourselves. Every other day I try to give Them an offering (usually of incense).
