I would try another aerial and if that doesn't work get sky.
To be honest you're not missing out on anything by having no BBC channels.
Get Sky, get one of the great deals then after 6 months or so even if you stop paying you'll get about 20 - 30 channels for free

There shouldn't be any reason why you can't get BBC Channels as they are free to all, be it on analogue or digital (I hope you pay your TV Licence!). It is probably a problem with your tuning - have a look at your TV (or digital/satellite box) instructions and they should tell you how to re-tune manually.

Ariel needs adjusting. BBC is normally the easiest channel to pick up out of them all and channel five is usually the worst.
