I would say that it is definitely a liberal one, considering Amnesty International is typically full of Democrat, Independent, and Green Party members and the only opposition I've heard (Amnesty betrays Americans) have come from the Republican party.

It depends very much on why and to whom amnesty is granted.
Usually it's a liberal policy. But if a governor, be he republican or democrat, should give his pal guilty of fraud or something else an amnesty, this would not only be a conservative policy, this would also be against the meaning of those who wrote the right of amnesty into the constitution. They had liberal minds!

Amnesty is liberal, cheap labor is conservative. (Amongst political elites - the 'base' of both parties is anti-illegal immigration.)

They reached a compromise in the Senate Bill by giving the liberals amnesty AND the conservatives cheap labor, but since those given amnesty would no longer constitute cheap labor, the total numbers of proposed immigrants was huge. And the resulting impact on schools and services was intolerable.

It's usually considered a liberal policy, but depending upon the circumstances.

For instance if the amnesty is granted for humane reasons, or due to pleas for leniency then it would be considered liberal.

If the amnesty is granted for political purposes, like when a govenor or president is leaving office, then it is neither liberal nor conservative, more to entice people to remember the person granting the amnesty

Its an unthinkable policy for either party. If they wish to alienate legal Americans on the gamble of the illegal vote then go for it.It didn't help either party the last time they granted amnesty. It will not help either party this time. They are only interested in one thing and that's self promotion of at any cost. They lie to the illegal and they lie to legal Americans. They cant be trusted to do whats right for this country.VOTE in NOvember.

Liberal, generally. The liberals would just give the vote to the illegals, whereas the President wants to give amenesty to the ones who have been here 10 years. Neither are good ideas because both reward lawbreakers.

Granting amnesty to lawbreakers is an UN-American treasonous traitor policy!

Americans in no way REWARD illegal aliens for illegal behavior!

In theory it's liberal. Although, the Republican (not the conservatives) are for it as well in the form of "Guest Worker" programs.

Neither - it's a misguided one. You don't give law breakers a present for doing wrong.
