The Bush Administration has consistently written in new laws and amendments to abolish your freedoms, yet people still support them. Your right to protections under habeas corpus have been destroyed. You can be wiretapped and tortured and kept in prison forever without trial. Voting machines are rigged so that elections can be handed over to whomever bought the machines.

Some people allow operatives and sympathizers on this board to convince that all of this is OK. Don't they know that all the Administration has to do is to implement these laws and your freedoms will be over in 2007? Why are people going on with their lives as if none of this isn't happening?

This is a question for you to provide the answers. There are too many factual references to the new bills and amendments to list here, and specific objectives have been already listed in details. Obviously some answerers are incapable of reading newspapers, books and magazines. If that is the case, go to another question.

I’ve been asking myself your question for some time. I don’t believe there is a simple answer, but here goes. Education: the people become sheep because their shortfalls in education keep them uninformed and today’s politicians take full advantage of this. Honesty and integrity in government; our politicians no longer require decency from their peers, creating an environment of corruption. Apathy; the political process as a whole has been driven into the gutter by our competitive so called free press who is engaged in a race towards the lowest common denominator, causing more voters to stay home every election. Money in politics; the amount of money necessary to run for national office is perverse, turning many of our congress-people into something of a whore in the face of cash requirements. Fear; as we know we have only fear it’s self to be afraid of. Yet our president and the press have worked as hard as possible to create an environment of fear for the American people in an effort to manipulate the electorate.
I have faith that these trends will end soon, America is coming out of it’s deep slumber and the fear mongering is beginning to backfire on the manipulators. Over the long term we seem to always find solutions, I’m sure these times will be the same.

Try actually reading the laws you are complaining about. The first
"question" I saw complaining about this provided a link to the law President Bush signed today. I cut and pasted from HIS source enough evidence to prove everything he said was false.

Obviously you only read liberal conspiracy papers and believe the first thing you read as gospel. I still have the right of habeous corpus why don't you? Are you a terrorist? I'm surprised you are brave enought to use the internet for the fear you must have that you will be spied upon and entered into an evil republican database of idoits and fools.

I do agree with you in part we have relinquished some forms of privacy but all in good cause I would rather have my phone tapped and 1,000s of lives are saved than to keep my lil' privacy and get attacked by terrorist, and I don't think my conversations about who I like this week, or what I bought at the mall are of big concern to the gov't,.......guess u have somethin to hide.

I think people are afraid. Bush comes on TV issues a high terror alert & all of a sudden you have instantly instilled fear in American people. I agree 100% with you that the issues in this country are out of control but the 1st step is for people to stop expecting their government to protect them & start fearing it itself!!

okay, 1st of all. you are not the one getting your Habeus Corpus taken away, terrorists are. same goes for wire tapping. i hate to say this, but the government doesn't give one drop load of s**t why you broke up with your significant other. they are looking for people mentioning that they want to blow America off the planet, you know, little things like that. and hey, Lib, what about our right to thank God in our speeches in school? or haven't you heard of the girl in school who's microphone was shut off because she dared mention God in her valedictory speech. What about freedom of speech? and that amendment violation isn't even for our own good! why don't you stop watching CNN and think for yourself for one moment? go ahead, try it. we are still allowed at least that freedom!

Because the U.S. citizens believe that the govt is in control and not them. The govt. is supposed to be OF the people, and BY the people, not the other way around.

YOu make accusations about the Bush aDministration but you do not offer proof of these accusations. Show us the bills, the laws about to be enacted and perhaps we will listen to you.
