Get a number of items, fruit, book, cloth, shoes, pegs - anything at all with different textures and shapes.
Get a box - large enough to hold the childs hands and one item that you have at a time.
Get a 2 tea towel or towels - one to cover the box and the other to cover all objects.

The child looks at each object - you then cover them. The child covers his/her eyes and you put one of the objects in the covered box. The child then puts his/her hands in the box, being careful not to look in and tries to guess what is in the box by touching the object. (Keep the towel over the box and the childs hands so they can't peep)

When the child is older he/she does this task but not looking at the objects first.
