In 2005: OB visits costed $400. Delivery before insurance was $12,500 (unscheduled c-section). Out of pocket for the delivery was $1,250 (10%).
Thank goodness for insurance! That's the cost of a new car!

My boyfriend and I lived together for 3 years before I had my son, and we weren't married. My boyfriend had great med insurance and I could have been covered under his policy, but I opted to apply for medicaid and see what kind of coverage would be provided. I had my son at the nicest hospital in Pensacola, FL and I chose the best obstetrician available. My pregnancy was a true pleasure and I paid a total of $27 for the whole experience. I had 4 ultrasounds, All of my visits, Testing, 3 days in a delivery suite, My prenatal vitamins would have been $118/ per month, but everything was free. Oh, and I had to pay $200 cash at the hospital for his circumcision. So, $227.

I had everything covered, except my vitamins (I had to pay $10 a month) and my sonograms (I don't remember, seems like they were around $30 or something.) Everything else was covered by my insurance. All the visits, and the whole delivery and stay at the hospital.
BTW - I am in NY, had Independent Health at the time.

have Regence Blue Shield with a deductible of $2000.00 then 30% up to another 2000.00 with a roll over in January(Deductible starts over) and I am Due in March.. SOOOOO
$1500 for tests and labs. $2931 for the OB visits and delivery and then what ever the hospital charges for borrowing one of their oh so luxury rooms. This baby will cost me out of pocket a bit over $3300.00 if I am lucky.
I am not married but also make too much for medical assistance. I am lucky to have insurance at all. My company has 4 employees. The law here states companies are not required to provide insurance for their employees unless they have over 50 employees.
My boyfriend does not get insurance on his job and he makes quite a bit less than I do.

I had my baby in July and I'm still getting bills. Just remember that even though you will probably have met YOUR deductible, that the baby will have it's own deductible to meet. It's pretty wierd to actually get bills addressed to your baby. I think after all is said and done with my bills and the baby's will come to right around $2,000. I should also mention that my baby was breech, so I had to have a c-section which means that it was a little more expensive since my doctor had to have another doctor assist with the surgery and I had to stay in the hospital for 3 days instead of 2 days for a vaginal delivery.

I haven't had a baby yet, but I was just talking to a coworker of mine who has the same insurance and she paid $10 bucks for her ob visits, delivery, and everything in between. Insurance paid everything else. We have great insurance, thank goodness!

12 1/2 yrs ago, our bill was 9,000, not including the OB visits. I don't remember how much the OB visits were. You can call the local hospitals, and they will give you a price estimate on labor and delivery, and OB visits. I had a normal vaginal delivery with no complications.
