Yes, its taking the Lord's name in vain. There is nothig edifying about it in that context. As far as the "holy" cow comment above, no such thing as a holy cow...unless you are hindu, which means you have been misled.

That question is unclear. Are you saying that the person said, "Jesus Christ, did you see that?" If a person is saying "Jesus Christ!" while getting angry, it would be using the Lord's name in vain.

If a person says "Jesus Christ, did you see that?" while proclaiming God's Word, then it would be celebrating the Lord.

Either way, your question does not include the exclamation mark or the context of the use of the Lord's name and therefore cannot be answered.

Take care,
Troy

Depends on your definition of cussing. I don't really consider that exclamation good or bad. It would depend on how it is used.

I can use "cuss" words to give a compliment to a person, and I can use basic language that a first grader would understand to say the most vile things.

It's not what words are said as much as what is said with the words that's important.

Is this another sexual harassment question. I'm sure you are familiar with sexual harassment. It is not wither the intent of the person is to harass someone sexually, but wither or not someone perceives harassment is taking place.

If it is a religious question, and you are asking for a judgment on wither it should be judged as a profanity, then I would have to say "Judge Not." God's opinion does not depend on wither or not you are offended. If the Pope said the phrase, I am sure it would have a totally different context.

Cussing - not necessarily. Using the Lord's name vainly - yes.

Of course, it could be looked at as a euphemism...The person could mean something more akin to "Holy Shizzle!" (another euphemism!) In that case, you could consider it cussing.

Whether it's cussing or violating the 3rd commandment, it's probably not the best idea.

Jesus is not a cuss word however we are not to take the Lords name in vain and that is what you are doing which is probably worse than cussing. Also words like golly,,jeez are a form of taking God name in vain.

Unless they are speaking to someone named Jesus Christ, who would have to be standing right there with you, in my opinion they are indeed cussing.
