You have to sit down and talk about what you want out of the relationship...define what you are to each other. No one should be short changed and neither of you should give false expectations about the future of the relationship (if you mean to have one).
But think for a while about what you want yourself and think about the consequences or repercussions of opening this up. It will definitely change things between you...for better or for worse.

Just because you've been together a year that do not mean I LOVE YOU! He love you because of the friendship but he's not in love with you. hum............. I hope you are not having sex with him! He is letting you know don't get your hopes up. Love yourself and know that God loves you so much that he sent his only begotten son to die on a cross for YOU. now that is true love. Jesus loves you even when you don't love him back. shouldn't you love him, he died for you?

My advice is to get out of that relationship if he doesn't love you by now its not a good idea to wait around to see if he will love you eventually. You don't want to be with someone who needs to learn to love you you want to be with a guy who loves you even if he isn't with you.

"loving" is not sold by the pound. you are viewing the subject as a commodity plus the effect of time --which makes it an antique. and your ideas are "old and antique" you have no market for them in today's world of love. so first thing to do --give him his blank cheque -- no signature needed and tell him "a adieu". that is bye for ever. good luck-- you need a bit of it.
