$700 worth of damage is not a lot these days. You are lucky that the cost is not a lot worse. You have to pay for the damage you caused. It is a hard lesson to learn, but you are lucky that it is not a lot worse!!

Unfortunately you were st fault so you are ultimately responsible for the repairs. Unless the case was settled in court, and the other party agreed to the $200 for the damages then you will probably need to pay. Take your own advice, and don't drive again until you have your own car and insurance!

Was there insurance on the vehicle you were driving? Insurance follows the vehicle, NOT the driver! If the vehicle was insured, you were NOT driving uninsured!
Basically, if you caused the accident and were not insured, you need to pay up. Get a waiver and release of liability from the other party before settling!

If you don't have insurance - DON'T DRIVE!!! Someone like you drove into the back of me recently, I've had to pay £400 excess damage to get my car repaired when it wasn't my fault. I pay my car insurance, why should I lose so much money because people like you deliberately break the law. It's so unfair.

Bostonian, this is not the case in the UK, the insurance follows the driver not the car, so if he was not listed as a named driver on the insurance policy then he was driving uninsured.

enable me clarify.. opposite to conventional have self belief.. insurance companies dont purely deceive human beings approximately fee.. do you extremely think of they have vast conferences the place the managers say "ok.. how do we screw human beings over at present? no. Heres what got here approximately... the insurance company did an estimate that became actual looking. It probalby incorporates used areas (that's easily ideal) and purely replaced what mandatory to be. Your broker.. who's interior the corporate to make as plenty funds as available.. positioned all new areas (so as that they could earnings) and adjusted each and every thing (so as that they might do much less artwork) The insurance and the broker will artwork out their variations with regard to the estimate optimistically. purely take the insurance estimate to the broker and tell them to artwork off it (they understand they might desire to) in the event that they have any supplementations- they're going to understand to call the at fault events insurance

Well, you're right, one shouldn't drive if they don't have insurance. You should have checked what you had to pay for and if that 500$ was mandatory. There has to be a reason why, and a legal one at that. You should know what you're paying for and what's happening with your case.

the court compensation of £200 covers owner/keeper of the car you hit. if they claimed damage on their car through insurance then the company can chase you for total costs. and thet will do it till they get their money back. best way is to arrange re-payment program with them and stop the baliffs calling which would add more costs to your bill.
