The airbag light is a warning that there is a problem somewhere in the airbag controls, The bag may not properly deploy in the event of an accident, but you can drive the vehicle!
One thing to check, does your horn work? If the horn is not working, and the airbag light is on, 98% chance that the clock spring in the steering column is it problem. The do have a tendency to go bad, and are not that expensive to replace.
A computer scan will show where the air bag problem is, so get it checked as soon as you can!

Open driver door
Get in
Shut door
Turn ignition to the on position The one that will go all the way, but not to start car)
Open door
Reach down with your right hand if your a rightty
Press the door ajar sensor button thing (7) times
Shut door
Start your car.....
You gotta do it a few times to get it right. The faster you do it the more chances it has to reset. If you do it too slow it will seem like it does not work. Make sure you take out the key first before you start the process...

there is a problem with your senosor... it will not just randomly deploy, but if need be it might not deploy as it should. Best to get it checked by the dealer you might be riding around with a false sense of security of having airbags, when the reality is they will not work.

Its just a sensor, and no it won't deploy. It happened in my 2005 caravan, and was covered under warranty.

have a dealer check for a clock-spring recall on your vehicle.. most likely that's the problem
