Reading the headlines (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6058416.stm) and I see other countries are getting on the ball (Denmark has BANNED trans fats) and yet here in America, companies can not only sell food that contains trans fat, but if the serving size is small enough, they can list their product deceptively as 'trans fat free' (all with the good graces of the FDA.) Why?

Because in this country, unless the substance is considered an 'illegal drug', you can pollute yourself with whatever you wish, as it should be. I'm all for disclosure, but after that, you're on your own...

Most of the world is starving and the last thing they have to worry about is trans fat.

i like to eat fatty foods, so i may die early from a heart attack, but it is my choice to eat those foods. i do agree with your second point though
