We live a mile from school just outside the city limits. My kids take the WALKING SCHOOL BUS. We take turns walking the kids and "picking up" the others on the way. The kids love it and the teachers notice a difference in the kids since they've exerted some morning energy already and are now ready to settle down and learn.

The parents are concerned for the safety of their children. There is always the possibility of an accident Also, if they just walked to school, the parent would not know if they made it to school or not, until the school called asking about the child. There are so many perverts in the world, every parents worst nightmare is that something might happen to their ch id.

Parents dont want their kids to be inconvenienced. I walked miles when I was a kid. And what's up with school buses stopping at every house, some only a few yards apart. Make them all congregate in one place to be picked up and let the rest of us get to work on time.

Ok, im stepping down off my soap box.

Safety? Most kids get abducted close to home, many on the way to school.

Another reason is that Mom or Dad are already diving to work anyway, so why not drop the kids off?

They do the same thing in the U.S.A. But I think it makes the parents feel that their children get to school safe. It is a safety issue.

Parents love their kids and want to be with their kids as much as possible and their kids love it. Also, why not drive them to school and be safe than to send them walking to school by themselves when they could get abducted on their way to school.

Parents are paranoid about letting their children out of their sight. Also parents nowadays are usually working parents and have no time to worry about if their children get to school or not, so they drive them.
