What are you talking about? Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Or some other fairy tale?
I absolutely sincerely DOUBT that your childs school would hand our such a book as they are prohibited from handing out the King James version of the bible, which is the only book I can think of that contains all that you have described.
Oh, there's a thought....the bible is what you are referring to isn't it? Which supports my original statement, another fairy tale.
Peace.

What's the name of the book?
You should probably take your concerns to the teacher who gave the book out for the reading assignment. There may be other choices if this one is not suitable.
After that, you would need to talk to the Principal.
Getting a book banned is a challenge. You are going up against 1st Amendment laws and other rules. Have you read the book yourself? Are there literary criticisms of the book? If so, this means the book has been analyzed and researched by critics and experts. This may give you an opportunity to talk about what's in the book with your child. Discuss your family standards with the standards and actions in the book. That's part of growing up- realizing that other people have different points of view and to respect them even though you don't agree with them.
Be careful about choosing your battles. After all, it's only a book.

Book banning is wrong. Book burning is wrong. It is censorship, and that, although wrong, can be a tool for parenting. If you have issues with the book, discuss those with the child, then the school administrators. Everyone has different tastes, but the book had to have been approved by the local schoolbaord.

No, as the parent it is your job to monitor what books your child reads. Regardless of if it is the Bible or a book of another religion or anything else. You are a parent, this is your job and not for someone else.
Blessed Be )O(
p.s. And yes I do think I know what book are you refering too.

there are no books which should be banned under any circumstances as there have been book burnings throughout history. look back to see how much information has been lost and how much more advanced mankind might be if this wisdom and knowledge was available to mankind today.
