I have to wear my hair in a bun all the time b/c its company policy. Can this cause my hair line to recede (i dont know if I spelled that right)? If it does is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Try changing the position of the bun frequently--for instance--don't put it in the same spot on the back of your head all the time...shift it ...move it around. And lossen it up especially around your hair line.--Don't use rubber bands to hold the pony before making the bun.

What an odd company policy. Do you work in the food service industry? What if a woman's hair isn't long enough to wear in a bun? Do men with long hair have to wear a bun as well?

I would sincerely question such a "company policy" as that. But, to answer your question..... Wearing your hair in a bun 5 days a week will not cause a receding hairline.

first of all...girl you have my highest sympathy. a BUN everyday??? Where do you work? are you an air hostess or something? Anyway, not sure bout the receding hair line bit, but I do know that if you tie your hair back too tight it will cause headaches. (thats assuming the fact that you wear a BUN everyday isn't enough to give you a headache :)

If you wear to tight of a bun then yes. The hairs will start breaking off giving you a broader forhead and all these little hair peices that are so light that they defy gravity will stick up and make people look kinda funny. So wear a loose bun.

mmmm. no it doesnt, but you could find that you have a headache more often, and putting hair up alot in tight or restrictive styles can cause breakage.
As long as you do not tie it too tightly you should be okay!
You could always make sure you use loads of really good leave in conditioners on your hair whilst it is up, that way when you get to wear it down you will have lovely hair, plus you will not damage it too much if you dont spend as much time styling like you would if you were to have to style it everyday for work!
There are advantages to every situation in life if we just look for them!!

Yes, but there is a product line called nioxin and it helps keep your hair strong as ever and replenishes hair that us women tend to do a number on. It literally causes the regrowth of hair that falls out and when your hair is stronger it doesn't fall out as easy.

Just don't pull your hair too tight--too much pulling causes hair breakage/loss; wearing your hair in a bun does not.

I don't know if it can cause your hair to recede, but I know it can cause breakage if you're constantly wearing it up, especially if you sleep with your hair up, it has to be the worst thing to do to your hair.

If you pull it back to tight. Just apply an light oil around your hair line and message it in, especially the temple areas.

if the bun is too tight it can cause breakage, if its tight enough it can be at the follicle or at the bulb; in which case with the bulb gone no hair wont grow back.
