Over the past week I have had this horrid feeling of sadness. I am not taking any medication, am sleeping perfectly and as far as I am aware, I have no reason to feel sad about.

I have completely lost interest in my hobbies/interests and really don't feel like going out at the moment. Just feel like some time alone.

I have no idea why I feel like this and almost everything in my life could be perfect. But at the moment its really bugging me!

I am meant to be going on a mad adventure in Wales this weekend which I have been looking forward to for a while now and I know that if I went when i'm feeling normal I would absolutely love it, but at the moment, I just don't feel like going...

This loss in enthusiasum is really annoying me and I just can't shake it.
Any Suggestions?

Ahh 'Winter Blues' could be a result. I have had a coldy virusy thing for a few weeks now, and I think its coming to an end shortly. Its not like a really bad cold to stop me working and doing things but it is there in the background lingering.

Thankyou all for your help. For the record, I am heading up Snowdonia in the north of Wales. As I said i'm not in the mood for it, but I will probably go ahead with it as you guys suggested. Oh and also I am male!

Think I will head home early today and get some rest. Recovery is my aim for the week.

Thanks alot all

It could be mild depression or it could simply be because your body is fighting a virus or something. We dont always have symptoms when our body is fighting off bugs, it can just leave you lacking in energy and feeling low. If it doesnt improve in a week or so see the doc.

I think you should try and think about situations in your life where you were low and understand how grateful you realy are deep down at what you have or/and who you have around you. I know that at one point in your life, you must have hit a rock bottom, just imagine how low you felt then and how much you would have appreciated what you got now. Maybe something has midly pis*ed you off, but its turned into a bit more than mild. I dont know if you are male or female so it could be your dragon days if you female!! x but if not, i would speak to someone close to you, some one who understands you and where you have come from what you have come from. Why not try watching the news or reading a paper, there are so many less fortunate people around the world than us. Beleive me. Knowing what you know about your "depression", which is you dont know why and you wish it wasnt happening, then take that and SHAKE it off, we feel how we MAKE ourselfs feel, well mostly.

goodluck takecare and have a nice time in wales. x

I understand how you are feeling. A sort of mild depression.
If I were you, I would drag myself down to Wales, (hopefully you are not driving), then see how you feel when you get there. Don't force yourself to join in the activities unless you feel up to it. You may find that the change of scenery lifts your spirits and the bracing Welsh air certainly will!
Make sure to eat a well balanced diet and drink at least 8 glasses of liquid per day.
Stop looking at all the bad news in the media, that's what gets to me, but if you don't feel brighter in a few weeks, go to the Dr for a check-up.
Hope Wales does the trick for you. I'm off down there myself for a few days.

Could be that you are coming down with some lurgy or other. Sometimes you feel lethargic when you're about to get a cold or a viral infection. Hope not, though!

Try getting a tonic from the chemist or boosting your vitamin C intake for a while. That might help.

We all feel a bit down and out , now and again. I often feel sad, missing my parents in SA then i just whip out a SA cd listen to the music cry my heart out and then i feel ten times better.
Please go on your weekend, i am sure once you are there you will have a [Wale] of a time. Often i dont feel like going out but always end up enjoying it. Dont lock yourself in your house or bedroom it will only make it worse. If you have a dog take him for a long walk , sit in the forest and just chill. Hope you feel better soon.

Hmm, poor you!

Try looking at your diet - are you getting enough fresh foods? Don't drink to much caffeine or alcohol.

I would recommend that you do go on the mad trip to Wales, even though you think you don't want to. I say this because it can be easy to get yourself in a rut where going out and doing anything can be too much hassle, and once you start sliding down that mountain it's very hard to get back on your feet!

Seeing your friends, fresh air and general craziness may be just the medicine to get you going again!

Get out there and enjoy!!!

I have had similar symptoms on and of, even though like you there is nothing wrong in my life. If this is the case then you should see your doctor as it sounds like a mild depression and could be due to a chemical imbalance in the brain which alters your mood- this can happen to anyone and your not alone, there are many people to help you.

Is there any type of volunteer work you could do to take your mind off yourself. You could be a baby cuddler at a hospital or visit lonely seniors in nursing homes. Maybe volunteer at a local animal shelter or help at a food bank. Reaching out to others can be fulfilling and satisfying especially when we are feeling a lack of purpose in our own lives.

I feel like this - but know its because I have just changed jobs and have made a big mistake - I know what I need to to do to resolve it and so will be happy again soon.

You need to look at every aspect of your life and figure out what it is that is making you feel like this and then change it.

A change in scenery this weekend might be just what you need!

Hope you are back to your old self soon.

Go on your mad adventure and see how you feel after this ?, you may be just having a down time which everybody gets.
If you feel the same in a week or so then go seek advise.
Have some fun, happy music, happy friends, happy you :-)
