MMA is not a style you learn it's style of competition. A person who is only trained in one style can fight in an MMA tournamentand visa versa. If you train in one particular style you will have time to master it and get great at it. If you train in 5 different ones at once you will never be a master of anything. And although you could become a good fighter you will never be a great martial artist.

Mixed Martial Arts is two or more disciplines studied, but mostly, it is a sport competition just like UFC, PRIDE and K1, these are all Mixed Martial Arts competitions.

you can take it into consideration the several disciplines that your instructor teaches as such, but you also should realize the level of skill he's attained in each different discipline.

You'll NEVER master Martial Arts not even one type of discipline, it's always changing, evolving and this is one part of it's evolution; learning two or more disciplines to better yourself either in the class or on the street.

MMA means a mix of martial arts like everyone else said but it really boils down to a certain few: brazilian jiu-jitsu, muay thai, and wrestling (with boxing and judo here and there)

I don't know what he calls it. Sounds like someone trying to be all things to all people & is a jack of all trades. Probably a master of none.
