They are not harmful as such, however the child suffers a lot from the irritation of the bite and may scratch him/her self very badly and that is bad!

You can never get rid of bed bugs! However the best way to treat them is to expose the mattress to the sun or to stay away for a couple of days from the house. Bed bugs survive on blood alone hence if you guys are away their food supply is gone!.

However chemical treat the bed before going on a vacation so that all eggs are destroyed

They are harmful and painful not only to children but adults as well.

Some two years old just cannot tell you.

You need the whole residence treated, they can come from neighbours in the same building.

Mattress is easy just leave it in the hot sun and they will go away, must Check and bring in while hot. If bug are gone you can re use the mattress. You need to keep an eye on it, if the eggs are not removed they may hatch.

Bed bugs are known to transmit diseases to humans. Their bite can be harmful esp. to little children. I would advise totally getting rid of the mattress and replacing with a new one.

bed bugs are extremly harmful to anyone, as the spread various types of viral fevers. their bite may cause severe alleergy and and result in sleeplessnes.
the matresses should be placed for the duration of 2 weeks under direct sunlight follwing which it should be vaccumed throughly to dislodge the eggs.
the bed spreads used overr these mattresses should be washed or literally! boiled at 120 deg in water for ten min. best use a laundry. also boil the clothes of the 2 yr old at such temp to kill any hidden live bugs. keep the room clean and dust free..

harmful in a psychological way , if not a physical way, and they may also carry disease. what child can get a good nights sleep with those nasty things crawling on them? throw out the mattresses. if you have the old fashion metal springs, you can take them outside and burn them with a torch. that covers that type of spring, but better to throw out all of it , spray bug killer everywhere, and buy new ones if you can.

Bed bugs are harmful not only to children, but to elders also.
It is totally your responsibility to chase them away from your beds and home.
And I will wipe them out from my home.
