Do you remember when we used to nag our kids for spending too long playing computer games, and we could never talk to them.
Well are we not now all guilty of the same thing.Spending hours at a time surfing or here on Q&A.
Do you agree that the "computers" are taking over our lives certainly when it comes to leisure time,my kids seem to think so,of course I deny this but,are they right?

[Y]es and no. If we have healthy relationships with people in our physical mist, then the online type relationships are just a plus or bonus. If the Internet is the only place we find intimacy, then we have to be careful. I have seen several couples who met online, communicated forever, then met and sometimes the conversation died when they were face to face, but I have seen the opposite to like my mom's case who met a guy online and married him and have a wonderful marriage.

[I] always say to have a healthy balance, and you'll be okay.

[N]ow when not talking about relationships, computers can help us in many ways and make life more efficient until we spend so much time that we loose contact with other things we should be doing. Again a balance is a necessity.

OK.....Yes & NO! As far as killing coversation completely no, it is simply another medium or form of conversation. Obviously computer interaction is much more different from telephone or even face-to-face interaction. With that said I don't see computers as an unnecessary evil it's just that they need to be used in moderation. Too much of anything is bad right? On the other had I do feel "family time" in todays society is hurting and the parent child relationship is suffering. If we are to point the blame it is not on the technology available it is how & how much we use it. I grew up playing outside, riding my bike and now I do fear this will not be the case for my children. I do know that the computer will be a part of their lives but I also know I will not allow it to run our lives. I guess what I'm saying is spend less time on the computer and devote more time to the family.......Hope this helps!
