Do you suffer from indigestion or heartburn very often?
The symptoms you describe sounds like it could be something known as globus sensation. This is defined as the persistent or intermittent sensation of a lump or foreign body in the throat for at least 12 weeks.(i know you have only had symptoms for a few days though)

The most common causes would be gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), abnormalities of the upper esophageal sphincter (UES), psychologic and psychiatric disorders, and stress.

I would suggest an evaluation with an upper endoscopy as a more comprehensive evalation for anatomic abnormalities. A 24-hr pH study can also be considered to definitively rule in or out GERD.

If the GI workup is not revealing, you may want to be evaluated by an ENT specialist to see if there are any upper esophageal sphincter disorders.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
Don't worry you are getting treated, just don't be afraid to ask for advice or a second opinion if you are not satisfied.

Oh yea. I have had the feeling of something stuck in my throat for 2 years now. It started out with a piece of lettuce that I thought was stuck in my throat. Then i tried to get it out and had to go to the hospital. They told me there was nothing there. Then eversince that incident, I could not even think of eating for a couple of weeks. Just stuck to pudding. I finally went to an ear nose and throat specialist and he told me I had acid reflux! So he prescribed me losec once a day 1 hour before i eat. Made the world of difference. Now I eat without thinking.

You're saying you went to your doctor and all he did for your symptoms is take an x-ray? No throat exam? Do yourself a favor - find a new doctor and get a second opinion. Do NOT wait 2 weeks to find out what is wrong!!!

I had exactly the same sensation many years ago. It went on for days, it felt like there was a lump stuck just where my breastbone is, and I felt like I had to burp all the time. I went to the doc and he suggested I try Gaviscon tablets - the ones you suck...and after a day it was completely gone. Still never found out exactly what the cause was, but anyway...try some Gaviscon and hopefully it'll sort you out. If no better after a couple of days, go back to your GP - if they say you can't have an appointment for 2 weeks then insist it's urgent and they'll see you the same day.

It could be a fish bone.

try swallowing a banana down your throat. it might carry the piece with it and relieve you.

If you went to the doctor then it's probably nothing serious. You should try to drink a lot of fluids and eat a lot, and perhaps it will dislodge whatever is there.
