Today, lasers are the most common method of tattoo removal. They work by targeting the ink with pulses of highly concentrated light that break the ink into tiny fragments, which are then cleared away the your own immune system. However, this isn’t all done with just one treatment. The more treatments you have, the more the laser can penetrate to destroy the ink. But, the more treatments you have, the more damage you do to your skin, causing painful blisters and scabs that can eventually lead to scarring. Experts in removal therapy say that technology has advanced to the point where scarring is minimal, sometimes non-existant, but this can vary depending on the situation.
There are other methods of tattoo removal, but most of them are so painful and ineffective that laser removal replaced them as soon as it became available. These other methods include dermabrasion, which would actually “sand” away the top layer of skin through abrasive friction. Another method is excision, where the tattoo would be cut away and the skin sewn back together. These methods have proved to cause much damage to the skin and result in severe scarring, and are only used today in extreme cases where laser surgery is not an option

well yes there is a scar.. remember those old injections you used to get on your shoulder as a baby, it left a small round needle scar.. same thing.. you know a tattoo was ink injected into your skin with a needle. there is a scar even though the color of the tattoo hides it. so removal of the whole thing is gonna cause a deeper scar cause they have to remove the outer layers of skin that was dyed in the first place.. a whole mess if you ask me.. I use henna instead.. versitile and it wears off after a few weeks, and I can then just go get another done if I choose

Tattoos can be removed by many different ways. However, scars remain even after laser treatment. The best way to get off a tattoo if it is a large one and you don't want scars left is skin transplant. :)

I've seen people on extreme makeover (style channel) that have tattoos removed. It was done by a plastic surgeon who sliced it out and then did a fantastic job at stitching the person up so the scar didn't show.

well it depends on how your going to have it removed if by Lazar or by having it surgical cut out of your body. I had to have one of my tattoo's removed and I have a really bad scar but that's because they couldn't use a Lazar it had to be cut from my arm and it was very pain full I hope that isn't the type of removal you have. good luck
