Yep, same here. I just go to one of those nail places and get a pedicure. It works great and they scrape the dead tissue of the bottom of your feet (discusting, but true) and it dont hurt, on the contrary, it feels good, You should pamper yourself. besides afterward, they will look like a baby's bottom (your feet of course).

Perfectly normal. Walking long enough on hot enough asphalt and it will ingrain (i.e. "bake") some of it into the sole. Even moreso if it is blacktop type asphalt that readily transfers more tar to the soles of the feet based on how hot the asphalt actually is.

Even if the surface dirt is cleaned away using a hand wipe or a washcloth in the shower, some the ingrained dirt will stay there. Additional cleaning using something like a nail brush or a Soft Scrub type scouring pad *might* remove some of it. Even more cleaning using something like Permatex Hand Cleaner *might* remove a bit more. No absolute guarantees all of the ingrained dirt will clean away. DO NOT PUMICE--you need the soles to remain tough for both rough and hot surfaces.

Barefoot daily long enough on hot enough asphalt and the soles become "permanently" black--that is, they stay black until not barefooting for days and cleaning the feet daily, or walking exclusively on lighter pavement such as the sidewalk to eventually wear away the ingrained dirt by scraping. Only other way, in my experience is that ingrained dirt does not remain on a part of the sole that blisters, but then those are also blisters that need to be drained. DO NOT use any petroleum products such as gasoline, turpentine, etc. that can be toxic and carcinogenic when absorbed through the skin.

If it is black tar from pavement or the beach then use a rag dipped in a little gasoline... any petroleum product such as gasoline will disolve other petroleum products such as road tar allowing you to clean it off easily...
If the stains are organic (grass, leaves, etc.) try soaking your feet in warm water with epsom salts....
epsom salts act as an exfolliant (sic) which will allow the outermost layer of skin to slough off... (hopefully with the stains)

Put a little bleach in a big bowl of water, the hottest you can stand and soak your feet in it. After you have done that rinse out the bowl, refill it and put more water plus hair conditioner in it and soak your feet more. Yes it does work.
