Most people are leaning toward LCD now. Plasmas are heavier, suffer from burn and a little more expensive.

LCD technology has improved much more recently than plasma so the quality between the two is very comparable. I think the only thing left that plasmas are better at is showing blacks and darks.

As far as the best brand, I think most people prefer Sharp.

The most important thing to consider with LCD is the type of signal you will be feeding it to watch TV i.e. whether or not it's high definition. Look up the difference between HDTV and HDTV ready.

Hi, I just bought a LCD and when you go round the showrooms the quality of the TVs really does vary...
And in the end I bought a samsung as there was only 1 other set with such a great picture and that was the Sony top of the range one although the price will be out of your pocket the 32" Samsung with 5 years warranty (very important on lcds and plasma TVs) was £900+

I bought mine from John Lewis and I bought the 26" for £729
http://www.johnlewis.com/Audio+and+TV/Televisions/Televisions/LCD+TV/1284/230307065/Product.aspx

they do a 32" and it is just under £1000

I know it's probably more than you wanted to spend but I can say the quality of the picture just on normal freeview (no set top box required built in) is the best picture I've seen on a TV.
Also supports HDTV and Computer svga connectors!

Just visit your showroom you'll see what I mean,,,

BTW remember John Lewis free 5 year guarantee on all lcd's!!

Good luck !

I have a Philips LCD, and although very good I think the Samsung is miles better, and now wish I had bought that instead (you live and learn). I received an email from PCWorld offering the Samsung 32" for £670 (online price only I believe). Worth checking it out though.

Stick to a good brand like Samsung or Sony ..
Really don't know much about Eversham but u get what u pay for .Suggest you read some Home entertainment magazines first as they'll do reviews.Or just do a search on lcd tv reviews.

try this ..www.lcd-tv-reviews.com

Good luck

I think you need to buy a magazine for good reviews - something like WhatTV (or it might be called WhatPlasma etc).
