Does anyone have any suggestions for a really romantic place to go for a weekend when he gets back?

I am sure that seeing you will be enough happiness for him after the terrible things he has seen in Afghanistan.
I think, seeing as that he has been living in a war torn country in tents on a desert, how about a night at the Savoy - real luxury, just you and him.
Well done to him though - there is not much support in this country for the war but believe me, everyone is supporting our troops. We need to all rally behined them, give them a big welcome when they come home - no expense spared instead of bringing them home in the middle of the night like they are doing now. There should be fanfares, bands and families greeting them. Well done your husband!

I don't think I can suggust a specific place but I can tell you from living in a camp in Afghanistan for 18 months just to make sure it is some where really relaxing and nice. The last thing you want when you get out of there is to sleep in anything less then then a nice clean bed with a tv and a minibar and a private tub and shower. These are the things you dream of. And you don't want to go anywhere muslim, not a racist thing just you get sick of those prayer time speakers 5 times a day. Maybe somewhere really nice like Costa del Sol or the Balaric Islands, just don't take him to Turkey or Morocco.

And warm is usually good because it takes a while to reclimatize to winter in Europe.

And he will want sex, that I can promise you.

God, what a brave and admirable husband you have.
Seeing as it's Christmas, why don't you go to Lapland? You're never too old for a little Father Christmas magic!
Wrap up warm, look at the stars, take a sleigh ride in the Moonlight, return to the chalet with an open fire and drink shampers on a fluffy rug.
Well, thats what i'd like. Hope you enjoy your re-union!

As you are close to Bath, why not book into one of their classier hotels for a weekend. The only drawback is that it will be around New Year so you may have to book somewhere now and it could be pricey.

God speed your husband's safe return...

Oh, poor you, Christmas without your man - but that can be rectified. How about a lovely relaxing weekend at Champneys Health Spa or similar.

Just to be with you will be more than enough for him, but give him time. His mind and reactions will take weeks to calm down so remember this if he doesn't quite feel the same as when you last saw him.
Best wishes to you both and tell him we fought his corner on Answers.

Bruges. It is absolutely beautiful there. I have been twice with 2 boyfriends and it is really romantic. I think Paris is overrated and too crowded (no offence intended to anyone who enjoys it).
