They are caught up in their own selfish interests and don't want to bother with them.

Also, some do not have enough of an education themselves to help their children.

Some have difficult job situations and don't have the time of the energy to deal with it.

sadly for some people children are almost trophies. This is more so in the US where the more well off people have children, return to work and the nanny looks after them and in the summer the child goes to summer camp and the folks go travelling. In the UK having a child for some means that the council has to provide accommodation if the parent has none so that could be one reason or the mother is bored.....sad I know but rarely these days is a child brought up in a solid secure household!

I guess it would feel like being business partners with your hubby. Too much in your face! Sometimes it's good to separate lifes a bit so you enjoy time together more. I still try to teach my kids in our daily life. I ask fun questions but they have to work out the answer. But I would not consider home education. As for their manners, once they forget, I go: Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's got the manners of them all? They generally smile and say 'sorry mum'

In the UK some do not even bother to teach children basic discipline, so the child rules the roost and the parents wonder why they are stressed out and the kids are out of control..................and that is even before educational considerations.

How you get them is different from the way you bring them up. Some people are more interested in the former than in the latter. In fact most of us are - so all you have to do is follow your instinct and it happens.

If we educate them ourselves and they turn out wrong, who is there to bame?
