has cimetidine (tagamet) otc been taken off the shelves?

Question

i went looking for it, today, and no one (longs, walgreens, the corner store) had it, or even space for it, on the shelves. i'm interested ONLY in cimetidine. i am not looking for alternate medications.

i asked at the pharmacies; they knew nothing about it. they were amazed to find there was no shelf space for it, and said, "hunh. i guess it HAS been taken off!". THE PHARMACISTS! is there a pharmacist on the site? one who can tell me, AS OF TODAY, the seventeenth of october, in the year of our lord, two thousand and six, whether it has or has not been? a confirmed date, people, not just a, "it was there last time i looked", 'cause it was there last time i (and the pharmacy staff) looked!

I took a look at the FDA recall page, and didn't find any information about a tagamet recall.

No Altgrave, it hasn't been removed from the common counters. Perhaps it depends on where you live, but I know where I am from, we can still buy it. Our drugstores around here; so if you have them where you are you can check are-CVS; ECKERD; & RITE AID. Also at our grocerie stores-QUALITY MKTS.; TOPS; AND WEGMANS. Then at the Dollar Stores-FAMILY DOLLAR & DOLLAR GENERAL.
At all those places around here you can get it, so I do not believe it was taken off the shelves by the FDA. I know I used to swear by that, but now my Dr writes me a perscription for Prilosec; and my Medicare pays for it since I am on SSD.

you might want to ask the stores your going to, if they disconitnued the medication or if the shipments are just late.but i don't think they discontinued it since they sell it where i am.

I TAKE CIMETIDINE, IT'S GENERIC FOR TAGAMENT. I TAKE ONE EVERY DAY.
