Empty vessels make most noise. They are a p*** poor lot really, over 200 years and they still can't get a grip on democracy. Their electoral system is riddled with corruption and malpractice, they still haven't mastered more than a rudimentary knowledge of the English language. They teach their children that evolution is false. Their military depends on numbers not on training. They eat processed sh*t and grow obese. Their graduates are a joke. Yet they continue in their own laughable self-conceited view of themselves

Arrogance?

I call it ethnocentricity. All Ethnicities have a preponderance to think of their own as the central, if not the best one out there.

When I was in the Navy, I asked which ship was the best one in the fleet, and the answer came back- This one...the one you are serving on!

Is that foolish pride, or arrogance? No. It's pride, which can be a very good thing.

The United states has done many good and decent things in the world, and I believe that we have the right to a certain amount of pride.

We don't turn our backs on a people in need- not even Great Britain!

it is what effects from instilling nationalism into the youngsters at an early age. The Greeks did it and delivered about a particular love of the city state. Then the state grew to change right into slightly dictator-like and positioned Socrates to lack of life on a trumped up charge. Even Socrates conventional his sentence because he believed a lot in the state. u . s . a . of america is like this. the means of the conception lies in convincing human beings u . s . a . of america is optimal then providing club in go back for worship. something like an fairly large club. brushing off this as nonsense makes individuals imagine you would possibly want to be jealous and/or anti-American. edit - Rasputina: "unrivalled freedoms"? I hate Amerikkka. I've had the opportunity to see other countries and they have made my impression of living here, just short of a complete shi*hole. So why don't I just leave if I don't like it so much? Because it takes a lot of *ucking money to. Unless I wanted to live in Mexico it's going to take me a while because I live in such an oppressive society. This country had/has the potential to be ok, but Republikkkans have stomped out any opportunity of that happening.

Well I am an American...who hears this same complaint over and over and think "Oh yes, everyone hates us...don't go overseas because Americans are not liked anywhere...everyone looks down on us because we are this or that...has a grievance or ancient grievance toward us, ya da, ya da, ya da." It has been this way since President Woodrow Wilson tried to install the Marshall Plan after WWI. The bickering that went on by the Europeans drove him around the bend and hastened his death. Where would you all be had we never entered your wars? Humm? We lost our best and bravest, for what? This? Thanks for nothing...and you call us arrogant! It makes me wonder why the foreigners would risk their lives to come here illegally and legally...we are so very terrible.
It's that kind of reasoning most of us don't want to be involved in the affairs of other nations. There are enough American who need our help right here in our own backyard.

Well we are the most powerful for the most part. I think we are the best country because we are every country. I have the following nationalities in my blood: Jamaican, Hatian, French, Spanish, Hispanic, Cherokee, Choctow, Canadian, and Portugese. As far as I am concerned I am an American to the fullest by being everything but, that is why we are different.

But as a rule we are way more arrogant than we should be.

The reality is that if you don't feel that way about the country you live in,,,, perhaps it's time to change what country that you live in

Yup,,, The US is so terrible that countless millions would do almost anything to to get here.
The "ugly American" is nothing new, it started when we kicked the sh!t out of the British in 1776. Yup the ugly American, the most envied people on the planet.

That propaganda machine starts from day one of every U.S. citizen's life. We are told we are the best our whole lives. I've only been out of this country twice, both times to a third world nation that relies on tourism, and I could understand why we are better off than they, but as far as the rest of the world, I couldn't care less if we are better or not. I know that I have tons of freedom, and as long as I keep to myself and not harm others, I'm free to live and do anything I want. Are Americans the best, Who cares? We live REALLY, REALLY, REALLY WELL!!!

Don't most people have pride in their country? Ask an egyptian, an australian... whomever. Most would live and die for their country.

Just because we do it opening and honestly... we are arrogant? To that... I couldn't care less.

Seeing as we always end up being the peace keepers of the world... we stand to deserve a little praise as well as criticism.

To anyone that doesn't feel this way... feel welcome to exit our great country at anytime.

Well, for one, they're a world power. I'm an American also, but I have roots in Israel so I consider myself Israeli and am gonna move there to help my country in anyway possible. But I think like every other great nations throughout history, American will fall apart. The easiest way to make sense of it in my mind is to compare ourselves to Rome (Though we aren't on a campaign to lengthen our own borders and conquering other nations, most of our other policies and culure are the same).
