Yes, they add to the bible and don't believe that Jesus is the son of God and the only way to heaven.

Many consider them a cult because they do not conform to "mainstream Christianity". They do not believe the unscriptural doctrines of the trinity, hellfire, and the immortality of the human soul. They also shun pagan festivals like Christmas, Easter and Halloween. If you let them into your homes, they can prove to you that such teachings and holidays have their origins before the Christian era.
Before you condemn Jehovah's Witnesses as "nut cases", look at yourselves and your acquaintances who claim to be Christian. Do you use profanity, smoke, abuse drugs, have extra-marital affairs, and attend movies with obvious demonic themes, like the "Harry Potter" films? Are you entertained by pornography or violent sports like boxing, wrestling or the martial arts? Are you "Sunday only Christians" who do their own thing after they leave church?
If you want to know the truth about God, would you ask his enemy, Satan? I don't think so. Therefore, if you want to know the truth about Jehovah's Witnesses, why not ask them?

YES, they are a cult that brainwashes people to not accept blood transfusions to save their life. If you are baptized and want to leave, they will "disfellowship" you and the consequences are that your family and friends who are JW's are not allowed to associate with you anymore. They are a bunch of hypocritical fanatic bible thumpers who criticize all non-JW's, but just sit around in their "Kingdom Halls" and talk about how good they are and how bad everything in the world is. They just sit there and discuss the same f'ucking thing during every meeting. The are a complete waste and drain on society and the economy. They do not contribute positive in anyway. They are just sitting around waiting for the world to end, which when it does they believe all Jehovah Witness' will get into the heaven and everyone else will be killed by god.

Anyone that is approached to join should know a couple things about JW. They do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God and the Messiah. They believe he was an Arch Angel. They have changed (among other things)
John 1 to reflect this view. They have added "Like" a God to fit there doctrine. There is no way that the translation from Greek or Hebrew even suggest this addition.
They do not teach that your belief in the Messiah will get you to heaven. How ever they are trying to live a Godly life and their followers are not flying Airplanes in buildings. I don't think they are Christian but they are not a Cult in my book.

I believe so. They don't believe that Jesus is God so they aren't true Christians. I don't think they are a cult the way the Mormon's are in that there is a huge church hiarchy that is financially dependant on the church's generous but very obligated giving. Still, I won't put down any religion or cult as they are comprised of people who are searching for the true God. I do,however have a problem with the leaders.

All religions are cults. No religion can produce or prove that there is a man living in a cloud. None. Religion is only a belief. "A belief, with a group of followers" is the definition of the word CULT.

It depends on who you ask.
Some descriptions of cults base that categorization on what a group believes, and some also on the culture of the group.
From a fundamental christian point of view, a cult is a religious group that strays away from a few fundamental points of Gospel, including the idea of the Trinity, Baptism in water, the Deity of Christ, the idea that Christ was fully God and fully human, etc.
If a religious group strays away from these beliefs, they are called a cult. Christians include in this definition Mormons, Jehova's Witness, MCC, Christian Science and other groups that claim to be Christian.
Certainly, they aren't cultish in the fashion of Heaven's Gate, and Jim Jones. It's just another religion, and Christians, claiming the only way, categorize 'different' as 'wrong'.

it all depends on your point of view.
all religions at one point would have been considered a cult. even Christianity.
every religion has different aspects to it and all have some similarities.
to the J.W.'s the others are cult's just as baptist think the Mormons are a cult and so and so on.
so you see it's all in what you believe.
if you believe the path you are on is the right one for you then by all means follow that path but someone will think you belong to a cult. it is a never ending cycle.
i hoped this helped.

No, Why do you ask?
I'm not a JW but I have wondered why people give them so much criticism. I mean they do have alot of truth, what if they are the true religion?
Aren't all religious groups considered a cult? According to Websters dictionary it is a group of people who believe the same thing.
Mister Mister your comment can work both ways. There are alot of other religions other than JW's that believe the Trinity believers are a cult.
Look at all my thumbs down. Makes me wonder hmmm. Because Jesus said that the world would hate his true follows, because they hated him first.

My wife is a Jehovah's witness and no it is not a cult.
There are somethings though that I feel are blindly followed without little logical backing.
For instance, blood transfusions...my wife will not give blood to save my life...
It did make me upset, but from a child she was taught these beliefs and no matter how bogus I think they are I respect them.
Now, if I had to give blood to save her I would, but that is me...
It is a very clannish following, close knit per se, but not a cult...
Peace...
