I used to be REALLY cynical about long-distance relationships.... but I'm in one now, been so for a year, and things are still going really well. I think if you are the two right people for one another and ready for that commitment then it will work regardless of the distance or whatever, so don't listen to what other people say about it... though I used to think like them too.

Anyway, it sounds cheesy, but make a phone date, where you talk on the phone, or even watch a movie or something you like on TV and call each other during commercials, or take breaks during the movie to make jokes or talk about it. You can find that this will make you feel really close even if you are so far away. Also, remain really involved in each other's lives... which might be possible through the Internet or friend networks. Like if he has myspace you can be on that together and be friends with each other's friends and just be plugged into each other. As many downfalls as the Internet has, one of its primary purposes is to bring people from far distances closer together.

Good luck to you both.

If you both are committed it can happen but it is SO hard... I am in the same situation right now... But I am committed to the cause and so is he so we can make it.
Remind yourself and him what makes your relationship so special.
Talk about your favorite moments together
And talk about the future when you are finally together.
I wish you the best of luck hun!

long distance relationships are very tricky and complicated. i know. i am in one. but one thing i know that has been always working for me is to ALWAYS keep the communication line open. this will help eliminate any misunderstandings and keep your trust and respect for each other intact. to compromise is another good way to go and always be considerate of your partner's feelings. before you do anything, you must think how he/she would feel and put yourself in his/her shoes. this will be a big help for the two of you.
